Pictures before the ceromony - Do you regret doing it or do you wish you had?

Original post by Fall07Bride

my fh and i are still debating whether or not to take our pics at westbury gardens before the ceremony or not. we are both very traditional always imagined seeing each other for the first time when i walked down the isle. but the problem is my wedding is at 5pm in october and after the ceremony it will be dark outside. I REALLY wanted outdoor pics at westbury gardens, especially since my wedding is a fall wedding. what should we do? please help!

if you took your pics before the ceremony - do any of you regret it?

if you didnt take your pics before the ceremony do you wish you had?

need all your input!

ok, first I must say that our cultural background is a bit different. Germans and Poles always see eachother well before the ceremony.... and we walk down the isle together.... no giving the woman away.... In polish tradition, the bride and groom actually receive a blessing from their parents an hour or 2 prior to the wedding.

so for us, it was a no brainer..... definitely take pics before, and not miss a moment of the reception.

you can still immortalize your first sight of each other in photos... it doesn't have to be in the church, unless you really want it to....

I think Id rather keep the tradition and allow for that anticipation to build and its a gift to give eachother that moment when i start walking down that aisle and we see eachother for the first time... Id rather have that than more pictures I think. Pictures are to capture the day as it happens, and the day, to me, is about moments like that...like seeing eachother at that very moment before the ceremony and not before. JMO.

Im SO jealous, however, that most of you girls who waited for the ceremony had a 3 hour gap b/n ceremony and CH. Does anyone else have no break b/n ceremony/CH/reception? We're gonna be rushing so bad to get pics in and will likely miss the whole CH to get pics.

I am absolutely with out a doubt doing pics before hand! We are getting married at RH too and for the money I am spending I am not missing one second of my Martini bar...lol!

I never even thought of doing it any other way...the moment will still be special and this way it'll be slightly more personal and we can focus on us and not the other 250 people around us!

That's what we did and it was so special. I loved the anticipation all day of waiting. The butterflies in my stomach made it so exciting! That being said, it's a personal choice. Don't let anyone talk you out of what you want to do.
