Thanks..
Believe it or not... its only been a little over a month and it's still freaky

Spending lots of time changing my name here and there and everywhere.

Odd thing is.. we really still don't consider ourselves 'married'. We didn't exchange rings and we didnt have any family there (except Jann heh).

The wedding next year will definately still have all the drama. Just legally, he can't run from the altar. hehe

Awwww! That kiss looks so sweet!! Congrats!!

Mind if I ask how come you decided to do a civil ceremony before the church (I'm assuming) ceremony? Was this a 'secret' ceremony? How romantic!

do I mind you asking?
Nah.. EVERYONE ASKS!
heh

We are getting 'wed' at the hall by a reverend.

Several reasons

- We both believe marriage is about the commitment of two people who love eachother to spend their whole lives together. It has nothing to do with money (richer or poorer after all) so why not elope?

- With the above in mind, if we had a billion dollars, we'd have had the big blow out wedding this year on that date. We aint rich and Town hall was reasonable - $40 hall rental charge, no food so no cost for that and we had enough room for at least 20, free! heh

- God has very little to do these days with the ceremony of marriage. The law is much more important in day to day life. The truth is until the court house gets the signed paperwork you're not married, legally. So, we figured we'd get the legal stuff out of the way and do the ceremony (which in it's definition is just a party to celebrate an even) at the same time the following year. The date was chosen, we just picked the same for the civil to make our lives easier and it has significance being the same day after all.

- MONEY MONEY MONEY Beyond and AFTER all of the above, Jim was immediately eligible for the insurance benefits I have that his don't come close to. This is a big thing for us. Plus lets not forget we can now file as joint for this year's income and use what we get back towards the wedding.

- Legally. Well I don't have a passport, never have being Texan and all. Most Texans see no reason to leave Texas for extended amounts of time, why leave the country? We THOUGHT his passport was expired now we find out he doesn't have one either. This is an issue since he's not American. So to make our lives easier we are BOTH appling for passports, for me that means only once with my married name.

That's probably more than you wanted to know, but those are the reasons.

My Dad knows, his Mom and family know. Being that they are Chinese they see no big deal in it either as long as there is a party planned somewhere. My dad totally supported this. We have been dating for 3 years, so it's not like it was Ooooh, lets hitch!

Jann was our only witness cause we want it to be special for all our family and friends who will be there at the wedding next year.

We did NOT exchange rings, that's for the wedding as well. We are married but still sorta stumble when referring to eachother as husband and wife. heh

'Money, money, money' -- I hear that!! Smart girl ... especially with the tax return thing, I never would have thought of that. FH and I considered doing this many times (partly why I asked) since he bought our home and is supporting it on his own until I move in after the wedding. We could have saved much more and more comfortably. We considered having a civil ceremony and then I would move in... but, among other reasons, my family would have been crushed, so we decided against it.

I love the fact that your are having your wedding on the same date as this ceremony. It really will make your day that much more special!

Happy planning!

So is this your way of saying that I'm not a friend and I won't be invited to the wedding? Because if that's the case, I'm afraid I am going to have to bill you for my photography skills and for my lost time at work. Harumph!

ETA: I took way more pics than that...where are the rest?

Lay off you freak.
You know you get the unique advantage of being the ONLY one to say 'yeah, I've seen this part before' during the ceremony! hehe
I have the pics here..

When I get home I'll post the rest.
Pushy woman!

And you got paid.. HELL you had the WHOLE wedding thing going
Free Meal
Free Drinks
Free Favor (the truffles)
Even a Thank You card.

HEY WHERES MY GIFT!!???????

Aw, crap! Now I feel horrible that I didn't get you a gift. Ew, how atrocious is that of me? You now know that even if you were kidding, this is going to bother me for the next year if I don't get you something...stinkin' Jewish guilt.

Uhmm Hello???
You were thoughtful enough to buy me and bring me my wedding bouquet

Remember? I'll always remember that as my first real bo-k. Jim and I smiled everytime we passed it by in the kitchen. His grandma never throws out flowers, so it took at least two weeks before they all finally disappeared.

That was gift enough.

Thanks!

If you are that guilt ridden...
We are registered at Target & Williams Sonoma! LOL

See, all I saw there was, 'Blah blah blah blah blah...we're registered at Target and Willams-Sonoma...blah blah blah.'

I completely forgot about the flowers, but those die. That's not a gift. Then again, maybe this multiple wedding thingie is just a way for you to milk people for more gifts. Hmmmm....

ETA: You're welcome.

Well damn woman who else is going to pay for my wedding if it isnt the guest(s). Mind you that WHOLE wedding cost us $40. Over $12 a person for crying out loud. or $10 if you consider the officiant a guest.
