I was reading the QOTD and realized that a lot of people were not going to see their FH the night before the wedding.
Is it because it is 'tradition' not to see the Bride until she is in her dress? Or because he will be with the groomsmen?
Is this because you do not want to see your FH until you are walking down the aisle?
Also, how many of you are taking pictures prior to your ceremony? I was told that this makes the cocktail hour less stressful.
Thanks!

Re: Pictures prior to ceremony?
I feel very strongly about not seeing him until I'm walking down the aisle. I know that it would be alot easier to do pictures beforehand, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
I'm going to take pictures with my bridesmaids and some family beforehand, and he will take pics with his groomsmen.
After that, we'll be doing our pictures during part of the CH and pics with the family during part of the reception.

Re: Pictures prior to ceremony?
my ceremony is hours before my CH (3:00 and 7:30) so we have like 2 hrs for pics after the ceremony n be done by cocktail hour (which im spending in the suite with FH anyway to have some alone time but still)...
im crazy crazy traditional, so ya the main reason why we're not spending the night before together is cuz he will only first see me on the day of when i walk down the aisle...
also, strategically, im getting ready at my house, hes getting ready at his, we live 30 mins apart
also, my mother would kill me if i wasnt just home w/her and my father the night before...im their only child so they are not liking the idea of me leaving home
but mostly its cuz of tradition

Re: Pictures prior to ceremony?
I dont want to see FH before walking down the asile. I'm looking foward to walking in the church and seeing him standing there waiting for me!
As for pictures, i think it depends on how much time you have between the end of hte ceremony and cocktail. I have about 2 1/2 hours and i'm getting all my pics done then. I dont want my BP to miss cocktail hour. I actually don't think i'm going to be in cocktail hour but FH probably will. i feel like it takes away something from the grand entrance.
I will DEF have A LOT of food in my room thuogh

I'm very untraditional. Fh and I will most likely see each other the night before. He WON'T see me while I get ready. He makes me nuts. We will see each other before the ceremony so we can get the pics out of the way.

Re: Pictures prior to ceremony?
We decided that we will see each other before the ceremony--just the two of us (and the photographer, haha). Although I think it is really exciting to wait until the aisle, I think that I would want to have that moment of seeing him for the first time to be just the two of us--to just kind of be ourselves and not have to wait until after the ceremony to have a conversation. We are impatient :).

I won't be seeing FH until I walk down the aisle. I'm traditional like that. We also have a lot of time in between the ceremony and CH (3pm ceremony, 7:30pm CH) so we should have plenty of time to take pictures and then still enjoy the cocktail hour.

Re: Pictures prior to ceremony?
For not being together the night before it's tradition for us, and the pics before, we considered it for like day and FMIL practically had a heart attack but then we worked things out and the first time he sees me will be when I walk down the aisle to Canon in D which is sooo the dream! lol

We will most likely not be together the night before the wedding, probably spend more time with our families. But we will be seeing each other before the ceremony so that we can get the pictures done and go to cocktail our and enjoy as much of the wedding as possible-i don't want to miss parts of it

Re: Pictures prior to ceremony?
FH wont see me either till I walk down the aisle. We have 2 hours inbetween the ceremony and CH to have pics taken. We will go into the CH hour though and mingle with our guests we figure... 1. We can get a lot of the hello's out of the way there so we can dance and party more at the recieption and make sure not to leave anyone out and
2. We really want to see all the beautiful displays the hall presents
Oh and we will only see eachother the night before at the Rehersal and dinner then its see ya!

Re: Pictures prior to ceremony?
ok this makes me feel better...
I will be taking pictures prior to the ceremony. I am not 100% happy with this idea, but I do not want to miss my wedding!
I am upset that I will be missing the look on FH's face when I walk down the aisle and he sees me for the first time, but the photographer said he could capture that 'moment' when we see each other for the first time.
Thanks girls!!

part of me wishes we could wait and see each other for the first time coming down the aisle....but its so hard when u are getting married at the RH bc the CH starts right after the ceremony...and we are not paying all that money to miss out on that!
our photog is going to have me come down the stairs where fh will be waiting...to create a dramatic effect when we see each other the first time

Re: Pictures prior to ceremony?
This has taken A LOT for me to get used to. I am confident that the photog will capture the big 'reveal' perfectly!!
Since FH and I live together, the night before we will not be together, not sure how/where that is going to work yet. Then we are going to do pics before the ceremony. With all we're paying for the CH, I want to enjoy it. Besides, it will mean less time off the dance floor for me!!
