Pictures prior to ceremony?

Original post by pasta3825

I was reading the QOTD and realized that a lot of people were not going to see their FH the night before the wedding.

Is it because it is 'tradition' not to see the Bride until she is in her dress? Or because he will be with the groomsmen?

Is this because you do not want to see your FH until you are walking down the aisle?

Also, how many of you are taking pictures prior to your ceremony? I was told that this makes the cocktail hour less stressful.

Thanks!

we are not seeing each other during the day of... but we are getting to the RH 3 hours before the ceremony to take pics. but we are having it set up that i will see her for the first time in the bridal suite by ourselves before the pics.

part of me wishes we could wait and see each other for the first time coming down the aisle....but its so hard when u are getting married at the RH bc the CH starts right after the ceremony...and we are not paying all that money to miss out on that!

our photog is going to have me come down the stairs where fh will be waiting...to create a dramatic effect when we see each other the first time

Aww that sounds so cute!!

We won't be seeing each other the day of the wedding til the church, I'll be staying at my parents' house and he'll probably stay at his parents' house too. We left a gap in between the church and reception so even with traffic heading out east it will give us an hour before cocktail hour starts to take pictures.

My FH and I will absolutely not see each other the night before or before the ceremony.

We are both catholic and also VERY supersticious....they say it's bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her white dress before the actual wedding ceremony. We are sticking to it we want luck on our side.

We would love to be able to do pics together before hand but are thinking of having an hour between ceremony and reception to get pics in so we can also be a part of our cocktail party

We went against tradition and it made for an amazing day!!

We live together and have a brand new house together so there was no where else for us to go, we woke up together, had hair and makeup come and he was just so helpful while i was getting ready, all our BM's and GM's came to the house along with photo and video and we took so many pics at home together, we did a reveal with me coming down the staircase.

We then went to old westbury gardens, and took even more pics for almost 2 hours

Then we went to the RH

It was so great because we spent the entire day together with the entire bridal party, it was perfect and if anything i was less nervous at the alter with him

yea what he said. to be honest i wouldnt really care if we slept in the same bedthe night before. our wedding is at night so if we really wanted to we could wake up together and he could leave in the afternoon and i wouldnt see him til later on but i odnt care either way.
i felt very strongly about taking pics prior...just easier, we can go to Ch plus we wont be rushed for pics

I dont want to see him before the wedding...I really love that moment when the groom see's the bride walking down the aisle for the first time...There's nothing like it

im a little late on this one but i just saw it.

As my friend at work states there is nothing more romantic then the groom seeing his bride walking down the aisle for the first time. Being the tradionalist catholic that I am I do not want to see Dave until 330 when the orgainst starts playing. I may be an emotional reck at that point but i cant wait to see his face.

Depending on where we have our reception we will have more then enough time for pictures.

ok this makes me feel better...

I will be taking pictures prior to the ceremony. I am not 100% happy with this idea, but I do not want to miss my wedding!

I am upset that I will be missing the look on FH's face when I walk down the aisle and he sees me for the first time, but the photographer said he could capture that 'moment' when we see each other for the first time.

Thanks girls!!

That's what we'll be doing also. I feel like seeing him beforehand will calm me down a little. I feel like I can get some crying out of the way so I won't be as hysterical during the ceremony. Also, I want to get some pics done before the ceremony since there is no time between the ceremony and CH.

This has taken A LOT for me to get used to. I am confident that the photog will capture the big 'reveal' perfectly!!

Since FH and I live together, the night before we will not be together, not sure how/where that is going to work yet. Then we are going to do pics before the ceremony. With all we're paying for the CH, I want to enjoy it. Besides, it will mean less time off the dance floor for me!!

I am in the same boat as you. We also have our photographer for 9 hours. Our ceremony starts at 2, and we are getting ready at the RH b/c the bridal suite is huge. So I will bring my dress there. I don't really want pics of me pretending to put on lipstick and crap either. We'll prob take the time before the ceremony to get some great pictures...

FH and I are talking pictures before. We are going to set it up that the first time we see each other is at the alter but no guests will be there.

FH and I will stay at different places the night before.

I will not see him until I walk down that aisle. He actually wants to see me because he doesn't believe in tradition. However, after going to 12th night photo appt, Dominic made a good point that due to the time of my CH(8pm) I may want to take pic prior to the ceremony.
I am totally against seeing him and have no problem sacrificing day pics for him to see me prior to.

I am deff not seeing him the night before, i will be sleeping in my parents house, but we will see each other before the ceremony, because our ceremony is at 8 pm, so we deff want to take pictures outside before it gets dark
