Okay, quick poll. Pigs in a blanket (or shall I say frankfurters en croute): Tacky or tasty?

Re: Pigs in a blanket!
I dunno about you guys but I'd rather have a pig in a blanket than a mini lamb chop. And trust me, it has nothing to do with animal rights. Hot dogs just taste better. Though when I have kids, I'd never give them more than one hot dog in a month - horrible nutritionally speaking.

Definitely tasty! I don't know anyone who doesn't love them. We are having them as one of our passed foods during the CH!

Funny story: We were at my neice's Bat Mitzvah at a very very very posh country club in New Jersey learly ast year. The adults were served every fancy passed food imagineable. They had every possible 'station' you could think of - carving, sushi, caviar, etc.... This function was way over the top for a thirteen year old, but nonetheless, wonderful.
About 15 minutes into the cocktail hour, I lost FH (who was relatively new to my family's functions at the time) and couldn't find him. He comes back to me with a plate full of pigs in a blanket and a grin from ear to ear. I asked him 'Where did you get those?' and he replied 'I stole them from the kid's room!' Well my 60 something cousin stole a few off his plate and said 'Finally some normal food!'
Do you think men really want to eat crudite? Baby Quiche? Nah! They want all american food!
That's so funny! Pigs in a blanket are only the best cocktail food imaginable. Yum!

Re: Pigs in a blanket!
It's by far, one of my favorites! When we saw that it was a choice for our cocktail menu, FH and I put in on our definite list.

Re: Pigs in a blanket!
TASTY!! They were not on the menu at our RH but we asked that they be served. They actually told us that that was the number one requested 'change' to the menu.
They, unfortunately, could not fulfill my FH's request to have a giant 'mini hotdog' carving station. Yes he is wierd, but he is mine

Re: Pigs in a blanket!
I wanted them, because they're my favorite passed hors duerve, but my dad was insistent that we pick the most expensive and 'impressive' items since he was paying so much.

Re: Pigs in a blanket!
I love them. And I made sure to have a few at my CH.
Those little toothpicks with the swizzly stuff on the end add a definite air of elegance.

Re: Pigs in a blanket!
My hall didn't have them on the menu(personally hot dogs make me want to vomit..) but my stepdad is a REALLY REALLY picky eater (he will only eat a few things..pigs in a blanket being one of them) so the hall said that they will get them for the cocktail hour. HOw great is that!

very tasty! and although they don't make many menus, you can usually special request them without extra cost or much trouble - my fh wouldn't have it any other way. he loves those things!
