Pimples on arms and shoulders, need suggestions

Well, the title pretty much gives you the gist of it. I clean very mercilessly every day, but still i have a slightly noticeable collection of small pimples on my shoulders and the top of my forearms. Usually small but lots of them, they are little brown bumplike spots that pop when picked at (basic pimple description). So far I've just used normal ivory soap, but surely i can just start washing more, or do any of you have any other suggestions?
i really hate them and you know it's summer!

Have you tried using a loofah on it? It will smooth them out a bit. I used to have little bumps on the back of my arms but I scrubbed like crazy and now they're gone.

I have the same problem and to be completely honest the only thing that ever worked for me was a bar soap from Mary Kay (for men, lol. GO FIGURE) that I used in college. The woman that I spoke to said her daughter, who had the same problem as you and I do, uses it, so I tried it and for some reason it worked. Might not work for you, but it is worth a try!

i have the same problem too...got better over the years to the point where its pretty sporadic now but i have scars i hate. sad to say, haven't found anything to really help. they do have acne body wash (by neutrogena and others). if you or anyone finds something that works, let me in on it.

DEF go to a dermatologist for a special cleanser but in the mean time - use an exfoliating scrub (but a gentle one b/c harsh ones can make it worse) 2-3 times a week in the shower. Dont scrub too hard b/c you will just irritate it more. Try to be cautious of the lotions you are using. Aveeno lotion is very nice and it's natural. It could also be from sunblock too.

I have the same problem and I also have scars from them. I use Derma Bland to cover the scars that are really noticable and I just ordered this new cream/lotion called Carmol 20 that is suppose to help get rid of those red bumps and pimples. There is a name for this, I am starting the lotion tonight so I am not sure how it works yet.

I get some on my back in the summer and tanning helps alot, they dry up in the sun or even tanning salon.

Clinique astringent (level 2) works really well for me. It's called 'Clarifying Lotion' but it's not a lotion, it's a liquid. I use it all over my back and chest when I first wake up and before I go to bed, right after I brush my teeth so I won't forget.

It works wonders for me. If I have a bad breakout and use it twice a day, the breakout totally goes away in about a week/week-and-a-half.

You might have keratosis pilaris. Do you notice when you pop them if a little hair comes out with some oil?

eta: i had a friend who had this all over her cheeks and arms and got topical treatment from derm for it that really helped.

I just read up on it. That sounds like what I have although I have a very minor case. I exfoliate a lot! Although it has gotten MUCH better with age.
It's almost unoticeable now.

It could be! Exfoliating helps. I also heard something from Sephora called KP Duty Cream works.

I know you'll probably get a million different suggestions but I get the same thing in the summer because I work out more. Two things have always worked - in the summer as a kid/teen living in the salt water at the beach OR more recently (past two summers) is Cliniques Acne Solutions Body Spray. Try Peter Thomas Roth Body Bluffing Beads. It has salacylic acid in it, so it clears up body breakouts really well. I started using it a few months ago to clear up breakouts on my back and it works great. They sell it at Sephora.
