When putting names on the placecards, I wanted to put my girlfriends name and her boyfriend's name on the same card. Is that the correct way to do it? If so, whose name do I put first and which is considered the name that will be in alphabetical order with the other placecards...I'm so confused. Also, what about children with their parents? How do you write those?
Like below for friend and boyfriend...
Jane Smith & John Doe Table 1
For parents and children...
John & Jane Doe Kid 1, Kid 2 & Kid 3 Table 1

Re: Placecard Question
For your friend and her BF , you should write
Jane Smith & guest (i think?)
I was invited with FH to his cousin's wedding and that is what they did.
For parents & kids, maybe
Mr&Mrs John Jones & family

I would definetely write out the BF, GF or date's full name if you know it. I always appreciated that when we went to weddings before we were married. For families, you could write The Smith Family (if all at one table) or make separate cards- one for parents, and one each for children (depending on age.) I don't know it this is the etiquette answer, just what I would do

Re: Placecard Question
I definitely want to write out my friends' boyfriends' names, still not sure how I can do it with them on the same card. I think for people with kids I'll probably write...
Joe & Jane Doe & Family

Re: Placecard Question
whenever I have been invited somewhere and I brought FH as a guest, they always put my name first and then his name. Your friend will probably be looking for HER name, not his, since he's the guest.

Re: Placecard Question
Use names when possible ... with the name of your invited guest first & then the significant other second. Its much nicer when you go to a wedding & you're 'greeted' by name.
