Plasma screen video TO DO or NOT TO DO?

Plasma screen video TO DO or NOT TO DO?

So what does everyone think about doing plasma screen video during there reception? I know FH really wants and i do like the idea but i sorta feel like 650 more is a lot more(maybe im being cheap, i rather spend that on our honeymoon) It;s not really in the budget but if we added it also wounld really kill us at the same time. I would rather add lighting, since i feel that sets more of the mood. So what does everyone think help, all thoughts welcomed!

I think it depends on what kind of mood you're going for at your reception...we are going for more of a low-key elegance so we won't be having plasmas or lighting or anything like that.

But I think that lighting can do more to the atmosphere of a party than the plasmas can, so I'd definitely choose the lighting.

JMO! I think the lightning will be more effective than the plasma tv's. Why don't you hold off on the tv's till the end. And, if you can swing it in your budget then add it on.

I agree, im planning on holding off till the end so if we can do it then we go ahead, FH is all about the screens(go figure men and tvs, lol) and i like the lighting idea better but he expressed a like and i didnt want to just shoot it down and get what i liked

I think it depends on your taste...I absolutely Looove the plasma screens with all of the pics & then you can do a slide show of baby pics, you & FH together with friends, family, etc :) I just think its such a nice addition that displays how you got to where you are...on the other hand I have people out right telling me they hate the idea of the screens..which was really nice because I didn't really ask for their input & don't really care what they say..everyone's got their own opinion!! but keep it to yourselves! haha.. I love it though!! so see what you feel if it is worth the $..i think ours was 1000 more for them so sounds like you got a good deal!!

If it was in our budget we would do it!

I would go with lighting. We went with uplighting and opted out for the tvs. Plus, we are having it in a smaller room so I think it would be too much. They wanted 900 per tv at my place and in my opinion it's not worth it. I don't feel like paying that much for them to flash baby photos of me on the screens for a total of maybe 10 minutes..just my opinion.

I think the plasmas are great if theya re in your budget. The digital snapshots are such a great thing during the wedding and a great keepsake after!

We're doing it! For me, it was a MUST!!!

If you aren't having zapshots or doing a montage then don't do it.

I'm having 2 50' plasmas but i'm doing both of those in addition to live video feed.

We're going to do a very quick quick recap of our ceremony before we walk into the reception hall since our wedding is on a friday just for anyone who misses the church, but the great thing about the new room in JT is that they have 4 screens already built into the walls. I'd get it if you feel you have a purpose for them but again like you said and some others, can't hurt to wait until closer to the day to decide!

I think it totally depends on the mood of your party. We want a very homey/Thanksgivingey type of feel to ours, so something as loud as a plasma screen just wouldn't work with the vibe that we're going for.

Um...live video feed????? Plasma TV during the reception??

Im completly lost as to what you would do with a TV, or why you would want one?????????

Do you have 700 people at the wedding that you need a live video feed????

Confused!

yeah live video feed. I'm not paying extra for it or anything so there's no reason for me not to get it. It's nice during speaches so that you can actually see the faces and not just hear the words. It's also good for people who are at awkward angles.

Most people who get plasma's get them for the montage and zapshots. Zapshots are great because you get all of the 'Action' shots of the wedding and don't need to worry about your photographer missing something.

Also, as Jenna said it's great because you can put pictures and video up of the ceremony for anyone who missed it.

Depends on what type of wedding you are having -

I think they are a waste for photos and montage I have been to weddings and from a guests perspective think it is quite boring to keep watching pics and montages of the couple /guests.

I was going to do it strictly to show the music videos when the songs were playing for more of a club/ party scene..
