Plasma screen video TO DO or NOT TO DO?

Original post by Angel06

So what does everyone think about doing plasma screen video during there reception? I know FH really wants and i do like the idea but i sorta feel like 650 more is a lot more(maybe im being cheap, i rather spend that on our honeymoon) It;s not really in the budget but if we added it also wounld really kill us at the same time. I would rather add lighting, since i feel that sets more of the mood. So what does everyone think help, all thoughts welcomed!

Um...live video feed????? Plasma TV during the reception??

Im completly lost as to what you would do with a TV, or why you would want one?????????

Do you have 700 people at the wedding that you need a live video feed????

Confused!

That comes of suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper snarky, as I have seen a lot of your comments come off.

kinda thought the same thing but didn't wanna say anything. Thanks lol.

WOW!!!

NEVER meant that to come off snarky!!!

I used to sell Plasma TV's and just could not see, in my minds eye how it would work into a wedding.

I humbly say I'm sorry. I NEVER mean comments to come across like that.

Sometimes the written word comes across COMPLETELY different than how its meant.

It is what it is,and I see many people agree.

I, again, humbly apologize.

No prob. That's one of the biggest problems with liweddings and any commucation online, we can never tell how the person really means to say something.

I agree that if you want to go with some extras, lighting will probably be more effective to give off a truly personalized and elegant feel to the room. The plasma screens are nice to give people something to look at, but as we all know... ALL EYES WILL BE ON YOU!!!!

As far as what a plasma screen is for... I was told by my DJs that some people use them to show slideshows of photos of the couple during the reception, or if they do zap photos for you, it's so people can see themselves up there. People always ham it up for a tv, even one that isn't really recording anything.

Personally, we're not going with either, but we're having a day-time wedding. I've seen some lighting done at weddings and it can be just gorgeous!

Lighting makes such a nice difference I would differently go with that.

No worries I think we are all here to give opinions...I think some people can be really rude and snotty on here and they don't ever apologize for it b/c that's just the way they are. You really just seemed confused b/c you didn't see why she should spend the money on it for her wedding. It is def. hard to write down what you're thinking w/o offending someone.

It's all good

I think the plasmas are great if theya re in your budget. The digital snapshots are such a great thing during the wedding and a great keepsake after!

ITA! and guests love to see their pictures up on the plasmas during the party!

I, personally, don't think that you were coming off snarky or rude and happen to agree with you. But to each their own and people spend money on different things.

oh yes I left out the zap shot part!! we're going to have them as well. I am such a picture person I love that we will have extra pics because we will only have one regular photographer which will be amazing, but it will be nice to have the dvd keepsake of the zap shot photgraphers photos as well...but as we're seeing by the response..its not for everyone.

I did the plasma's and worked for us for what we wanted, just depends on you really. It wont be something that you feel is missing that day so if you don't feel it's worth it then don't do it.

JUHGAIL and to OP-reasons for plasma, well i guess more to Juhgail to answer your questions. We had a zap photographer that came with the dj and took pics throughout the night and had the pics up on the screen right after taking them and putting them on there, many will even come to your ceremony and put the pics from your ceremony on the plasmas at your rh. Also, our videographer did a same day wedding trailer that he played at our reception, which btw was one of my favorite moments. He did a 5 min movie wedding trailer of the day, he edited it quickly. ALso we did a photo montage and they played it on the screens. We didnt do any live video feeds, never heard of that. JUHGAIL-i understand how it came out the wrong way, did seem rude to those of us who did it, but you have to understand how on these forums or any online forum things come out the wrong way. If you are confused what they are used for just ask rather than ask and make comments and basically say how stupid it is, just saying thats how it came off. You apologized and said you didn't mean it that way but just understand why some take it that way. I loved what i did and wanted it so to each their own. But again no live video feed hahaha

I have good pics of the plasma on my other comp so all i can post now is what i have on my liw albums, you can see the plasma's a lil in the background

and this is the movie wedding trailer they played at our reception

We are not doing it. It's too much money for us, and we aren't into the montage thing for our wedding. I had a Sweet 16 with a montage, and neither of us just are into doing that for our wedding.

Thanks ESPO!

.I will say, for the record I did *NOT* say it was stupid :) Just want to clear that up.

I really appreciate the explanation because I had NO idea what it was or why someone would do it. You gave a VERY specific answer. I didnt know people did trailers, or zap photo's and stuff like that.

But my response came across wrong, I get that. Hopefully It wont happen again, but hey, we are human right?

Thanks!

i wasn't mad but i also saw this after you apologized so maybe why hahaha. Sorry didn't mean to put words in your mouth, you did NOT say it was stupid just said that some people would get that impression.

I understand that you just didn't understand what it was used for so just thought i'd explain, no hard feelings.

I would say its pretty common now, a large percentage of weddings ive attended had them.

WOW! thats great. My FH and I are into technology so this would be very cool. It just not fit in with the theme of the wedding.

But I can TOTALLY see how people love it and have it.

most of the plasma's are big, i had 2 of them and they were both 60 inch plasma's. Even when i was at one end of the room at sweetheart table you could see well, the way the room was set up it was never far from either side of the room

its definitely not for everybody or wont fit everyones theme, but hey we all do different things at our weddings. SOme things others love but also some things others would never do. Its all about doing what you love and as long as you loved it thats all that matters.

We're going to do a very quick quick recap of our ceremony before we walk into the reception hall since our wedding is on a friday just for anyone who misses the church, but the great thing about the new room in JT is that they have 4 screens already built into the walls. I'd get it if you feel you have a purpose for them but again like you said and some others, can't hurt to wait until closer to the day to decide!

I LOVE THE IDEA OF A quick recap of the ceremony thats wonderful... Yes we are speaking of the plasma's for the montage and zapshots, during reception.
