Plated dessert or dessert cafe (vienese)?

Original post by LauraPete

for a small wedding (in a large room) do you think it would be better to have dessert served at the table or a dessert cafe in the back of the room?

Plated - okay so some people might miss it b/c they are up dancing but YEAH!- they are up dancing!

Cafe - the elder generation love this b/c of all the choices etc. BUT the dance floor will empty.

so where in that plated dessert is the wedding cake? Is that on a separate plate?

It was on a separate plate.

Esp. at the Carlyle, I'd definitely go for the Viennese hour.

i would go for plated. at the end everyone is dancing and drinking and then if they want dessert they can have some but honestly i think vienese would be a waste.

Go for the dessert cafe - everyone loves to talk about how there was too much to eat. I think it's a great way to fill the room particularly when you are a smallish party in a good size room. Have the band announce the dessert table is open, but have them continue to play so the dance floor remains open.

We opted for the plated. At my hall it's pastries, cookies and chocolate dipped berries. I think that with the wedding cake should be more than enough and won't interfere with the dancing. I want my dance floor packed as long as possible.
