Pleasant problem- needs a solution (a bit long!)

hi girls-
Thought I'd ask...
Now that the weather is turning cooler (on some days) i've been putting Julianne in shirts with sleeves...and pants. (warmer days we still wear shorts)...and I was thinking that since she is sooo long (29 Inches) and slim (15 lbs) that I would be better off getting together some of her 2 piece outfits.
Anyway- I was going to stop in the Gap to get her a pair of jeans..which are more versatile..and remembered that I had some vaccum sealed bags of clothes in the attic.

well- i had TWO bgs of 6-9 mo clothes! ( j is almost 9 mos old!)
and you guessed it- as I went thru the bags- there is stuff that is brand new that she cant wear cuz they are summer-y. Some Carters jumpers- all one piece tshirt/short thingys...some overall denium,...unfortunelty as shorts...and some dresses.

Thankfully, some have gift reciepts. others say 6-9 mos but also 12-19 lbs. so I am stumped!

What do I do with the ones that have no reciepts? She cant wear shorts much longer, so it would be a waste to put her in a new outfit to wear it once!
The carters ones have no receipt but do have carters tags. I am guessing that Carters will take them back since the tags are on. Will it be a refund or only exchange?

We are going to Fla in Dec for the holidays...but I dont think she will need like 8 new outfits to wear there.....

help!
I know this is a pleasant problem...but wished that people would have given me gift reciepts ....or BRU /Target/Costco gift certificates!

and no- there was not one pair of jeans in the 2 bags! (i picked up a pair at the gap on clearance for $15)

Re: Pleasant problem- needs a solution (a bit long!)

Phyl, unfortunately if you do not have receipts for the Carter's items, you might not be able to return or exchange them at all. The problem is - almost EVERY store around carries the Carter's brand, so unless you know which store it was purchased at, you won't be able to even get a store credit. I doubt the Carter's store would exchange an article that was originally purchased at Macy's or Marshalls. And you could drive yourself insane trying to figure which store it's from!

Give it a shot - just to see what would happen. I guess you could always donate the new items to a shelter or a charity. Good luck!

Re: Pleasant problem- needs a solution (a bit long!)

Ive given stuff away to friends, my sister (our boys are pretty much the same size), my cousin, there's been someone with a baby or preggo for the past year AT LEAST around my family
I realized I still have newborn stuff with tags, and that will come in handy for me in a few months

any resale shops out there?

hi there- Sorry Anna- there is no one in my family that is even close to being pregnant....unless one of my 2nd cousins decides to get married soon...and they are like, 22 yrs old. Dont have much contact with them. I was the youngest girl in the group of cousins that grew up together...so I am the last to be married and have kids.
You would think I would be drowning in hand-me- downs- but my family- as you all know- has not even come to SEE Julianne yet...or ever called me under their own voliation while I was preg...so I wont/dont have those options.

was hoping you gals hear dof any consignment shops in the area ...and the Carter's stuff was all purchased at a Carter's outlet- either the Lancaster one..or the one at the crossings.
Guess maybe their site has a return policy...

let me know if you have any other ideas!

Re: any resale shops out there?

I would try BRU first, as they seem to be great with returns and they do carry Carters and then you can try the outlets..other than that you are probably going to be stuck. I would donate them because the tax break is probably better than most consignment prices- unless you have really upscale stuff to sell or you can also try eBay.
