off on a tangent...I never understood how someone can brag about a vendor or service that they haven't even used, yet.

The things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I agree. I don't understand how people can rave when they haven't used them yet either.

But, I think we'll all try to play nice, Ron

I could explain that to you. SInce you are a bride you must know, you visit many of the same vendors. when you find one that meets your needs and vision and you know that they will definitely come through for you on your big day, you spread the word. Thats like saying how can you refer someone if your service is not completed.

That would mean only past brides could recommend, now that makes no sense.

Will be sure not to use the anymore in that manner and will not accuse anyone of being a fakie!

Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, you can recommend them based on your experiences so far, I mean, we have all done that.
I guess the suspicous thing for all of us is when the first post, or all the posts from one person is all about the same vendor. We are such a community on here and we come on LIW not only to talk about our vendors but about so many things as well. When someone disrupts this 'balance' it puts everyone on edge.

Will do... but maybe someone from liweddings can let us know that a post isn't from a 'real' bride before they pull it? This way we know? I never notice when a post is 'pulled' - so if someone reads it before it's pulled, they'll go on thinking it was a legitimate post on liweddings. The only way I sometimes see that a post is fake is when other brides point it out...

i do agree! but i will be sure to lay off the button! lol

Now this I agree with 100%, but that comment before was not called for. You book vendors on personality and other things they have to offer like price. This is what you brag on.

my comment was not called for???

I still don't see how someone can recommend a service provider until they've received the service. It's one thing to say 'I met XYZ photographer and he was nice and his price was good.' But, how could someone attest to the quality of XYZ's work before they've received their own finished product? Someone could see sample photos and think 'oh those are so nice' but not realize that the bride whose photos are being shown may have asked for all traditional photos, but ended up with all photojournalistic...

the same thing can be said about a DJ or any other vendor. Price and personality can be there, but you won't know until you use them for yourself about whether or not they follow instructions, show up on time, etc.

ets: and, there were vendors who I recommended like crazy based on how nice they were to me before my wedding and how great the price was. And, unfortunately for me, they ended up doing a crummy job. I guess that's when I learned first hand not to ever recommend something to someone else unless I've received a full, finished product or service.

we should also take away the ' ' icon...

I agree. I've never seen this icon used for anything other that to call someone out as a fakie. so it's mean

I like it when I see other girls point out a fake post. I almost called the Chocolate Fountain company since it got SUCH rave reviews - until I saw that the rave reviews were from the people that owned the company!

When a 'weddie newbie' has 1 post, and it's a vendor rave... it's VERY suspicious. I would just hate for a bride to read the post thinking it's real - and then use that less-than-honest vendor. I rave about a lot of vendors - and sometimes think to myself, wow... I sound like I own the company! lol. But then someone can look over and see I've posted almost 2000 times about alllll different things, and I'm a legitimate bride.

Maybe there's a way that it can be pointed out by liweddings.com that the post was made up before it's yanked to set the record straight before it's pulled?

I honestly thought the icon was there to point out dishonest vendors posing as brides. I only used it for the first time today for a VERY obvious vendor rave BY a vendor posing as a bride, who only had that one post. And I believe that vendor was a repeat offender.

I agree 100%

I think it helps other brides who waste their time and effort listening to a fake bride...

I'm soo bumping this one b/c I think it needs to be read. It bothers me when someone is pointed out to be a fakey, or whatever w/o really knowing the real story. Yes sometimes we are correct, but there have been times when someone is made out to be fake,a nd it's not true. I've seen this sooo many times it's sick.

One suggestion though Ron...I think this should be one of those locked topics so everyone will see it. JMO

I agree a 100%.

Being that this has happened to me on one of my very first posts, THANK YOU RON. After being 'attacked' on the boards as anewbie for asking a question, I stopped posting for a long time.

Thanks for taking this into consideration.

I agree with Sarah once again...

Some LIW users rely on the information that is posted here - and many times a thread is pulled with no explanation....

I think it would be fair to tell us it is a fake so we do not rely on that information...

and that if we agree not to call brides fakes - in return, we are told when they actually are fakes

Well, that's tricky, too. My guests loved my centerpieces but they had no idea that they weren't the right ones!

Right! But as you know a recommendation is just that. A recommendation. It's obvious that the person that is recommending wedding may have not come yet based on the wedding date we have posted.

If a bride wants a recommendation based on services or goods purchased this should be stated. For example they can say 'Past Brides please recommend your ...' But a general recommendation is based on your overall exprience whether it is before or after paid services.

Re: Please all read now!

I agree Eliana, there is so much that goes into contracting vendors that every interaction is important. I mean I know for me if I meet someone for the 1st time and they are really awesome I would recommend to others just because that 1st encounter was great.
