I'm still curious what the icon is supposed to be for... Ron?
I've never seen it used in another way.
And I wholeheartedly agree that it's better to just send an FM than make a whole thread about it. Too much potential for hurt feelings.

Will do... but maybe someone from liweddings can let us know that a post isn't from a 'real' bride before they pull it? This way we know? I never notice when a post is 'pulled' - so if someone reads it before it's pulled, they'll go on thinking it was a legitimate post on liweddings. The only way I sometimes see that a post is fake is when other brides point it out...
Yes, I agree because I got a rude e-mail from a DJ co. who pretended to be a real bride and never heard anything back if it was taken care of or not. It make me very upset that I received a nasty letter in my FM from a DJ and I would have felt peace of mind if I knew something was done about it.

I agree with Sarah once again...
Some LIW users rely on the information that is posted here - and many times a thread is pulled with no explanation....
I think it would be fair to tell us it is a fake so we do not rely on that information...
and that if we agree not to call brides fakes - in return, we are told when they actually are fakes
Yes I agree too!!

off on a tangent...I never understood how someone can brag about a vendor or service that they haven't even used, yet.
The things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I agree. I don't understand how people can rave when they haven't used them yet either.
Maybe they helped plan a wedding, maybe they used them for a surprise party? Who knows. Either way, I agree noone should be called a

I agree with this, we should just let the professionals handle it! It's not up to anyone to judge who's who. XOXOXO Kitty

Thanks, girls!
And, Ron... I promise that yesterday was the first and last time I'll ever use the icon! .
I do have to say that it definitely bothererd me when I read the post that said that it doesn't make sense for brides-to-be to do a Vendor Rave until after they're married. That's not fair! We like to rave and rant about certain vendors we meet with who either blow us away or disappoint to no end! After all, it IS called Brides Helping Brides... not just newlyweds helping brides. I personally appreciate ALL vendor reviews from anyone who has had ANY experience with said vendor.
When you read 'The Bride's Review', it's a review of the whole process of booking, communicating with vendors before the wedding - and the final result the day of. That's when you give the 'Final Grade' for each vendor. But I see absolutely no problem RAVING about Flower Michele for John's ability to pinpoint during the first meeting the flowers I had in mind. Or RAVING about Rosalie giving me chills describing my wedding day and what she will do to help. Or RAVING about the great time guests had at a wedding that MY DJ did. Or RAVING about the view or service someone receives at a reception site. Or RAVING about the booking process and cars at a limo company.
I think RAVES and RANTS are rightly open to anyone who uses these boards. And I FREQUENTLY RAVE about liweddings.com!! It's the BEST! Just had to say that...
Thanks!

I think you have said this much better than I have. BTW we are using most of the same vendors

Re: Please all read now!
Hi girls -
The only thing I want you to keep in mind in terms of vendor raves before the day of (and really, sometimes even afterwards) is that sometimes they just don't come through the way you'd hoped. My review *exemplifies* it. I was totally confident in my photographer until about a week before the wedding, recommended them to other brides, and it just went all downhill.
*Nothing* is fool-proof, girls. The best you can do is just do your best to prepare for things.
Talk about your experiences with different vendors, because they *are* important. But just because they were great for one person (or awful for one person) doesn't mean they'll be that way for you.

the same thing can be said about a DJ or any other vendor. Price and personality can be there, but you won't know until you use them for yourself about whether or not they follow instructions, show up on time, etc.
Sooo sooo true!

I agree. I don't understand how people can rave when they haven't used them yet either.
Just to clarify based on comments on this thread:
We can talk about our experience to date but until you have used them for the actual event you hired them for you can't really rave (unless you have used them for other events).
I've raved about my calligrapher because I received my completed work. I've spoken highly of my Limo service, stating that they have been great to work with so far and that I've used them before and they were great. I've offer up some of my other vendors based on my experiences so far, but I haven't 'raved' about them.

So, what about the brides who had 'half' of the service. Like engagement photos but not the 'final' wedding album. They can't rave about that? Who knows if the wedding photos will be great, right? No offence, but still, I am 'entitled' to rave about the photographer because I can see my engagement photos and I like them. What about girls who had a hair/make-up trial? They had an actual experience with the vendor. It's not like they saw the work on someone else and liked it.
I think we should state clearly where we are in the process with the vendor. Assuming people understand this is our personal experience and nobody else.

I'm not trying to tell you what you can and can't rave about. I'm just saying that when I read a post, I value only actual experience with a vendor. If I see a rave for a vendor that the person has not actually used yet, I'm happy they are excited but I won't base a booking on it.
All the things you listed above are actual experiences and so I would value your opinion on them in addition to your excitement.

Re: Please all read now!
I think raving about a vendor before the wedding day might actually jinx it! I'm superstitious like that. If the vendor doesn't come through the way you had hoped, God forbid, will you take back everything you said about them in previous posts? Honestly, mistakes can happen, no matter who the vendor is. No one is perfect. I would just be careful when 'raving' about vendors who you haven't had experiences with. Just my opinon.
