How do you deal with this?

Do you (or does your spouse) need to have the light on...Or off...

Are you in agreeance?

How do those who can not agree find a compromise?

What did you do?

Any suggestions to people who NEED a light...Or any suggestion to people who NEED the dark?

i used to need some light and i can sleep wtih a light on, but our alarm clock emits this red glow on the snooze button that disrupts me so i bought the sleep mask that covers my eyes.

I need to have it dark. He can fall asleep in the dark, tv on or off..nothing bothers him.

I need to fall asleep with the TV on, not so much for the light but for the noise, but otherwise we both like it dark!

I like to go to sleep with the TV (FH doesn't) but he reads before he goes to bed and leaves the light on so basically I watch TV while he has the overhead light on and when I fall asleep he turns the TV off

We actually both agree that we need total darkness, but I can't sleep if I don't have some sort of a consistant noise going on, like a fan running. DH couldn't get used to it at first, but now he can sleep fine with it on.

I used to like the light outside in the hallway when I lived with my parents but in the last few years before I moved I started to like them off and now here I like them off too.

DH and I use to sleep with the TV on to drown out the traffic noise from our first house. Now we both have the TV on all night long, every night! Even our kids sleep with the TV on.
