Please Help! Food related

So, for months and months I've been able to get this special pasta shape - Castellane - which FH LOVES. I noticed that it hasnt been in the stores lately, so I wrote to Barilla (the only brand I've seen) and it turns out they've discontinued it! I know that other companies have to make this shape, as I've seen it in tons of recipes, etc. I'd even buy from a speciality store! Please help me find this shape! FH is so upset about it!

That looks exactly live covatelli. We eat that all the time, it is usually in the frozen section by the raviollis

i would try italian specialty stores or a place like citarella. First try the supermarket and just look at all the pastas they have

what about checking BJ's or Price Club? They may have it there still - as they would purchase in BULK....and may still have some!

Try Pastosa Ravioli in N. Babylon.

she's right they are very similar. cavatelli are only frozen if they are fresh i think; you might be able to get them dried. different vendors have different names for certain pastas. Italian specialty food stores might have it, like Agata & Valentina on the UES, Iavarone bros. (multiple LI locations - wantagh and lake success) and valentinos in queens. good luck.

yeah I make cavatelli also, but it has ricotta in it so its much higher in fat/calories. These are more like shell shaped pasta that is closed on one end. Thanks for your help!

Cavatelli is only frozen if its made with ricotta in the dough.

these are bigger and just semolina pasta. FH likes them b/c they stay a little chewy, kinda like when you make farfalle and they never quite cook all the way through in the center of the bow.
