My FH's father is dying! The doctors do not give him any possibility of surviving and I am just distraught. He could pass any minute! My FMIL looks for me for strength, but I've never experienced this before.
My FH is saying that he understands and accepts that his father is dying but I don't want him to keep everything inside, I guess when the time is right he will express himself. His father has been sick for sometime now and we all knew this was happening, but all I think about is how terrible my fiance must feel in knowing that his father is not going to be physically present on the day we marry, just kills me. I am very close with my FPIL and love them dearly so this is just upsetting. Thank you to all for letting me express myself on LIW.
Please keep my FFIL in your prayers.
UPDATE: I want to thank all you ladies who have kept us in your prayers. Unfortunately, two nights ago FH's father passed away. We are completely devastated with this but at the same time know he is resting in peace. Thank you again for the support.

I'm so sorry to hear that. For now, you just need to try to be strong and be there for your FH. Don't push him into talking, he will talk to you when he's ready.

Thoughts and Prayers are with you. I know how much this *****. My Dad died in December of 2005 and my brother was married in August of 2006 and my dad was suppose to be the best man at my brothers weeding. IT will be tough but it will make you stronger as a couple and as a person. All the best

I'm so sorry to hear this! DH's father is dying as well. I'm surprised he's even lived this long as it is.
The best advice I can give you is to just be there for your FH. If he's angry or upset or quiet, let him know you are there and he can talk to you. And while you shouldn't press the issue too much, if he does seem upset at times make him talk. It's the best thing for him. When DH is upset he tries to bottle it up and pretend he's fine, but I can tell when he's not and then I don't let him get away with not talking about it. He'll let it all out and then feel a little bit better. Allowing him to talk, and being supportive of him is the best thing for him.
I'll keep you two in my thoughts.

Re: Please help me.....
You're in my prayers. Just being there to listen is what he needs; I know we feel a need to try to come up with explanations of why things like this happen, but I'm sure he just wants someone to listen and someone to hold him. As for the wedding, that's still 2 years away and though he will still be hurting then, he will also be in a different place. Right now, I don't think now is the right time to discuss his father's absence at the wedding. Let that conversation happen when the wedding is closer. Right now, let him mourn his dad as he knew him all the years of his life.
