I was all set to start seeing DJs when FMIL calls and says she wants a band not a DJ. She feels since we're having our reception at Flowefield that a band is more appropriate. As far as i know bands are super expensive compared to DJs.
So, do you really think it makes a difference? Which do you think is better? I just want everyone to have a good time!!!!!

Bands are definitely more $, plus you have to remember you'll have to pay for them to eat, and they'll take breaks and what not. For us, we decided to go with a DJ cause of the $ and bc my FH is eastern european and we're planning on playing ethnic music, which we couldn't expect a band to learn.
In the end you should do whichever you prefer; concerning which is 'better,' I think if you have the 'right' crowd, it wont' matter whether there is a band or DJ providing the entertainment. However, As far as your FMIL is concerned, if she's going to insist on a band, I think she should pay for it.

you make your own decisions? if they are paying then heck yea go for it...if you do decide to get a band...ask for a winter special !!! they make work with you on the price

i think if you want a DJ you should stick with that. DJ prices are a lot cheaper than bands

I totally agree...you can get a good dj w/ lights, etc. for under 2000...bands start at at LEAST double that! Personally, I prefer a dj bc I like the songs as they originally are- I don't really care for different versions

It's a personal preferance. It's your wedding you need to do what you want!
We went with a band bc we prefer live music. You really need to do what works best for you and FH.

I say do what ever you want... Dj's are much cheaper though. Good Luck!!!
