Please help me decide about bag pipers...

I know I posted something yesterday but we are trying to decide if we should buy a bag piper to play at our wedding. I am irish but like I said in a previous post, my Aunt mentioned that it reminds her of funerals...please take my poll!

I have never heard of bag pipes at a funeral. I LOVE the bag pipes. I have been to several weddings with bag pipes;some of them being Military weddings. But I think they sound great. At one wedding he played them while the bride and groom were coming outside and we threw rose petals. It was beautiful.

DH's aunt actually was going to surprise us with bag pipes. I nixed that right away - I personally hate bag pipes....they kind of remind me of a funeral also....a very sobering and not happy sound. JMO!

I really don't like bag pipers BUT it sounds like you really want them and I think it's a great way to celebrate your Irish heritage. If you have the extra $$ then go for it, but just at the church, not at the RH.

I am having one play at the reception hall (where our ceremony is) while guests are walking in, I think it's a nice touch for my irish family :)

we had them and it wasn't even a choice. I'm 100% Irish and DH is 50% Irish & 50% Scottish and he wore a kilt so it was extremely fitting. Plus, on our friends video of our wedding the sound is so great..

I do understand why a funeral may come to mind. Taps is played on them during Fire, Police or Military funerals as a sign of respect. Now I would shun you againist playing Taps, instead just do the fun upbeat ones. He played the Scottish National Athem & the Irish National Athem along with a few others

IMO, one relative's opinion shouldn't sway your decision. If you want to honor your heritage - go for it!!!
