Regardless of your cousin's wedding, those who want to be there for yours will be there. Their wedding, even though your family, should have no interference with yours.
She's my FH's cousin. I'm just afraid that she'll use the same colors as us. Then it would def look like we copied her

I think before you make up your mind you definitely need to sit down and have an indepth convo with this cousin. She seems awfully inconsiderate and not sympathetic to your feelings. Not only would she choose the same date, but even use the same colors. Thats just spiteful and mean.

Honestly, I'd do it 2 or 3 weeks before, because you want to have time for your honeymoon. This situation *****!!! I wonder if you could tell her that you did put $ down already, that FMIL was mistaken?

Not for nothing but your Fh's cousin's FMIL has some set of b*lls to actually say that she can only come to her son's wedding ONE day out of the entire year...if it was me, I would not change anything just for her. Her son's wedding should not revolve around what's convenient for HER...can someone say 'Inlawzilla?????????!!!'
Sorry to ask this but are you certain that your FH's cousin just didn't want that particular date? Sorry...it just sounds so outrageous to me And unfair to you that you feel you have to change your date for her too. !!! So what if you haven't booked your RH yet...!!

i think even if its still 2 weeks before you can still go w/ a fall theme even though its technically summer... this would give you some time to go on your HM before you come back for your fh's cousins wedding.

You really do not want to push it back a few weeks? I know you say it will be cold but its not going to be THAT much colder.. I mean it was pretty warm up until a couple of weeks ago. I am sorry you are dealing with this.. its so unfair to you and i think pretty mean of them to ask you to move your date.

That is exactley what I would do. Have 2 weeks before. This way your Best Friend can be there, you can still use your fall theme, and your wedding will be first.

go put money down ASAP, and then tell her that you put money down -- not lying! It is a delicate situation -- you are totally in the right, but she still will be your family.

tell her that you put money down on the date, cant get it back ,and that she will either have to change it to another date in 2009 or to 2010 if she's that stuck on that one date.

Thank you for all your support. I spoke to my FH and told him that WE needed to talk to his cousin instead of his Mother being in the middle. He finally listened to me and called her.... at first she was like ' No, we can't move it b/c my FMIL can't me it, etc, etc' So I told my FH to tell her that it was fine and she could have the date. So she was very happy and then asked us if we're going to have it after hers, I said, nope thanks to you, will have it 2010 or maybe 2011 who knows now'
She called us back to tell us that she's keeping her original wedding date 10/24/09, and we now have ours back
Im so happy to hear it all worked out!!!!! At least you get to keep your date especially in 2009!!!
