Whats your workout routine? I'm a newbie to this whole working out thing and i'm starting by doing 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week...I don't think that's enough so I need help! What do you girls do and have you been noticing any results?
Also: I can only work out at home! Right now, I don't have the time or the money to join the gym. TIA!

Re: Girls who work out!
Cardio is the best way to begin. Especially if you are looking to lose pounds. Try doing a strengthening and toning type of exercise to compliment the cardio. I do Pilates 2-3 times a week and I LOVE IT!!!! It's the only exercise I ever stuck with. Lately though I have been trying to add cardio to my regime b/c I know how important it is but I never could get up the motivation. So now I try to offset my Pilates days with at LEAST 30 minutes of cardio either at the gym or just a run around my complex. Sometimes I'll do some weight training too but that takes even more motivation
I must say though that I SWEAR by Pilates. It gives you such a nice lean look without any bulkiness. And you will feel so much better and it improves posture.

thank you so much! Do you take pilates classes at the gym or do you have a video that you use?

I just bought The Firm workout (cardio + weights), and if I stuck to it, I think I'd definitely see results

if you're lookikng to drop pounds, you should do cardio no less than 30 min, 3x a week, but do more if you want to lose more. it's so hard to stay motivated if you don't like to workout (like me!), but cardio is best for dropping the weight. strength training will also help define your body. i'm hoping to be able to afford taking piliates classes to get in better shape before my wedding, but they also have a lot of pilates videos out there. unfortunately i have no room to work out at home, otherwise that's the route i'd go. good luck to you!!

Re: Please help me not be a fatty anymore!
I've lost 25lbs so far by eating Special K with skim milk for breakfast. A can of soup or a salad or a light sandwich for lunch on whole wheat bread and (not to sound like a slim fast commercial) but a sensible dinner. We usually have chicken with brown rice and a veggie.
I also run on the treadmill for 2 miles about 3-5 times a week. Some days are better than others...some days are really hard. I just tell myself...ITS JUST FOOD! You have had it before.
Good luck...you will find something that works for you.

I train at a studio with an instructor but I have also taken the classes at my gym. They are good but if there is too many people in the class the instructor is less likely to correct you if you are doing something wrong. I started out with the videos and they are good for instructional purposes, but my personality type is that I have to get my tush out the door if I wanna work out. For some reason if I'm doing it at home I will do ANYTHING to sidetrack myself

If you can, get the videos. They are good for learning the basic movements and how to position yourself correctly. If you combine that with some classes at a gym or even some studios offer 'Mat Classes' which are much cheaper than private instruction, then you should do well. I absolutley love pilates. I have been doing it for a few years now and I'm totally addicted and let me tell you, I am a very tough person to get motivated to do anything that has to do with exercise.

6 years ago i did a similar diet and lost 40 lbs in 6 months. You have to add light weights to your cardio because muscle burns more fat. Unfortunately since ive met my FH ive put about 25 back on that I have to lose again! Can you join an inexpensive gym like Lucille Roberts? I think I paid like 200 dollars for a 2 year membership. They have pretty good classes.

Oh if you want something free to track your food, check out Spark People The website set up is similar to WW but this one is free. I used it a few years ago and lost a few pounds. I'm back on WW now because FH started it.
