Please help me refrain from ripping DH's head off

I got into a minor incident last night with another driver - I was sitting at a stoplight in the right lane of a 2 lane turning lane. She came up behind me and tried to squeeze into the left lane (there was a lot of traffic) and rubbed my rear bumper pretty bad.

So we pull over and she apologizes profusely - she was running late to pick up her daughter from daycare.

So I call my insurance company, get all the lady's info, and she leaves to get her daughter after my insurance company tells me it's ok to let her leave.

Then DH just IM's me and tells me that our insurance company called and says that the driver never called her insurance company to file a claim, so we're basically screwed I guess.
DH is acting like I should've known to tell her that she needed to call her insurance company at the scene.
My insurance company didn't tell me that, assmunch!! He's acting like a mister smarty pants know-it-all and I'm the big idiot, even though when I called him right after the incident happened to make sure I did everything right he acted like he wasn't sure what to do. But now he's an insurance expert all of a sudden.

He is SO going to get an a$$-whuppin when I get home

Last night I actually said to guy who hit me after he was like 'Do you wanna report it? What do you want to do?' and I've never been in the situation before & had no clue what to do so I said (my god, what a bad name I gave women) 'Let me call my husband and ask him so he doesn't get mad at me'

I think they legally have a few days to report it to insurance, so this doesn't mean she won't ever call them. When I was hit I looked up the lady's number in the phone book the next day and said, 'You know, it is ILLEGAL not to report this!' She called them then...

OMG! Home boy just lucked out. My seething anger just subsided slightly. But he's still going to get the cold, evil stare and the silent treatment. THEN the a$$-whuppin (if I have enough energy when I get back from the gym).

Ah - thank you! This lady didn't seem like a sheister. I just left her a voicemail message so hopefully she'll call soon.

Ask your insurance company what your next course of action is, but something like this happened to me.

I called her insurance company and reported it. They called her and asked what happened.

You may want to call the precinct where it happened and file a police report. You have up to five days after an accident to report it.
