Ok - we knew the roof needed to be replaced when we bought the house so today we had a roofer come in and he quoted us $8200 - he added that if they 'nailed the flashing' it would cost another $1100!
I think this is a pretty high estimate - PLEASE I need to get another roofer to look at the house - if you can recommend anyone PLEASE FM me!

Sorry, no roofer to recommend .. but some roofs are more complex than others .. and it would depend on if they're ripping out all the way down to rafters or just redoing the roofing tiles/shingles.
Call a few places .. check the flyers that are sent to the house. We get Clipper Magazine .. and they always have names of companies .. with coupons and discounts.
Definitely get a few more estimates, though.

I haven't used them yet but I am going to use Doktor Roof they are the people that stepped in and donated thier services to the people that were victim to having the wrong roof taken off thier house. If you don't remember it was in Newsday a few weeks back. I meet them at the home show this past weekend and they are a real nice bunch of people!

we had a great guy - i have to ask dh when he gets home later for the name and #. keep shopping around if you don't feel comfortable with the vendor!

We are getting a layer over our roof and we were quoted at $2,400. If you would like the contractor's name, fm me. My sister and her neighbors used him and he is local (Suffolk).

How big is your roof? Does it have a lot of hips and valleys? Where are you located? (My dh does em)

My mom used Hattenback (not sure of the spelling) - they're in the Northport area. She was very happy with their work.
