It all started around January, when her jaw dislocated, and till this day gets dislocated. it impedes her from eating, threreforth my mom lost over 50 pounds. After search for doctors, we dinally found someone that said they know exactly what it is, and that she was going to get 100% better. well last tuesday, she had the operation, it was successful, but today she had to go back for a follow up. her jaw got dislocated again. now she is all wrapped up in bandages. my mom now weighs 91 pounds from 135 lbs this february. I'm so scared for her. i want her to be fine for my wedding, i always envisioned her being part of the planning process, but becasue of her health, she has not been able to. i pray to God everyday to help her get better I'm just scared that something will happen to her because she is not eating.
I'm just asking you girls to please keep my mom in your prayers, she's my best friend, and i just want her to feel better. Her name is Carmen. I've cried so much today, my eyes are all puffy, and swollen, it just hurts so bad, and i'm still crying as i'm writing this.. thank you girls, Lisette:

I'll keep her in my prayers, Im sure she will make it through soon enough. Has she tried DRINKING meals at all? I know it kinda s ucks but shakes are easier to get down, no chewing... And they make special shakes that taste really good that give you a crazy amount of calories and nutrients to gain weight... Good luck & keep us posted..

Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she turns the tables and starts to recover. I am no doctor and I am sure they have tested for everything in the book but make sure they do autoimmune workup. I have a problem with my joints dislocating and its from inflamation due to an auto immune disorder. Just a thought.

Girls, thank u all so much, for your thoughts and prayers, although it has been no change in a day, i know that she will get better. She has tried protein shakes (ensure, nutriments) before the operation, because i don't think she has had a big meal since january. (solids i mean). right now her joints are very sore, because last week ws her surgery + they tampered with her jaw, and readjusting it, so she is having trouble swallowing. I just think hopefully this is due to the anesthesia. Tomorrow she has an appointment with her doctor again, hopefully they don't have to realign it again, b/c then she is back to square one. i will keep u girls updated, and again thank u all for your thoughts and prayers, i'm going to have to show this topic to her so that she knows that people that don't even know her care and are thinking about her. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart...

sounds intersting, what is an auto immune workup? that is something i would want to look into? thanks for the thought.

I'm so sorry... Your mom's weight loss is rather concerning. Can she use a straw at all? I know the jaw is the 'problem', but the weight loss 'symptom' could be more dangerous... Maybe a nutritionist should work with her doctor to help her gain weight?
