Please pray for my Mom

It all started around January, when her jaw dislocated, and till this day gets dislocated. it impedes her from eating, threreforth my mom lost over 50 pounds. After search for doctors, we dinally found someone that said they know exactly what it is, and that she was going to get 100% better. well last tuesday, she had the operation, it was successful, but today she had to go back for a follow up. her jaw got dislocated again. now she is all wrapped up in bandages. my mom now weighs 91 pounds from 135 lbs this february. I'm so scared for her. i want her to be fine for my wedding, i always envisioned her being part of the planning process, but becasue of her health, she has not been able to. i pray to God everyday to help her get better I'm just scared that something will happen to her because she is not eating.

I'm just asking you girls to please keep my mom in your prayers, she's my best friend, and i just want her to feel better. Her name is Carmen. I've cried so much today, my eyes are all puffy, and swollen, it just hurts so bad, and i'm still crying as i'm writing this..

That's probably one of the sadest things I've ever read. I'm soooooo sorry for your mommy. I'm going to pray for her for a very long time to come. Sweetie, I recommend you tell her doctor how much weight she's lost and ask him to give her nutrition through an IV. She's probably malnutritioned and this might affect her healing process. Definitely try to get some calories into her without using her mouth. Once again, I'm so sorry and I'll pray my hardest that everything turns out ok. FM me if you need support or anything else

Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she turns the tables and starts to recover. I am no doctor and I am sure they have tested for everything in the book but make sure they do autoimmune workup. I have a problem with my joints dislocating and its from inflamation due to an auto immune disorder. Just a thought.

sounds intersting, what is an auto immune workup? that is something i would want to look into?

An autoimmune disorder is a variety of condtions where your body attacks itself. I'm in medical school and can honestly tell you that the only time I saw a jaw displaced was after major trauma. I'd love to help you but I'm not sure what happened with your mom. However, as far as autoimmune diseases go, there are soooo many and her doctors probably tested her for them (usually blood tests to look for certain 'markers'). If not, mention SLE (although she'd have other symptoms that are more prominent). After giving this some though, I think it might be TMD. thank you girls so much!!! My mom had to the hospital yesterday because she was dehydrated. after they gave her the iv's she became a new person.. between yesterday and today she has eaten eggs, soup, rice, jello. I'm so happy, it's something, and its progress. the doctor's basically told us, that if her jaw gets dislcoated again, they want to wire her mouth shut, for 4 weeks. we are all against this operation, for the simple fact that my mom now weighs 89 pounds. if she goes through with this she might loose 30 extra pounds. she cannot be 55 pounds. she would die. i told my mom, i rather have her with a dislocated jaw, as long as she can still eat and be healthy, then do fade and deterrorate away.
just still keep my mom in her prayers, but I'm really optemestic for her full recovery.
