I'm sorry you went through this and feel so upset. I don't know that you really have any legal recourse because you were not charged for the cut from what it sounds like and you did not endure any physical injury that resulted in medical bills (like a chemical burn, etc) and the place is willing to give you free cuts, etc to try to rectify the problem.

That being the case, I wouldn't go back and have my hair cut there again unless you know of a specific person who cut your hair in the past that you trust.

Regarding the 'you get what you pay for' stuff, I don't agree at all. Recently, I decided to treat myself at a nice salon and got a nice rather short cut. I paid $28 for a cut that was completely screwed up. I didn't realize it until I had gone home and for days could not make it look right. I held the hair down on each side and saw that it was freakishly uneven! I was so mad. I called and they said that the SAME hairdresser would fix it for free. I said I'd rather have someone else do it but the owner said no. So, I went to lemon tree and paid $9 for a cut. They couldn't totally fix it because they'd have to chop my hair even shorter but it looked so much better and now it's fine.

I'd try to get a recommendation from a friend for a good stylist and stick with that person if you like them.

And, if you don't like your hair by the time your wedding comes, there are always weaves or hair pieces which can make you look your best.
