Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a
telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be
given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you
will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of
this!

It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.

If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up
to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and
alarming.

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried
my number and it came up along with the Mapquest and directions
straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and
encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary.

Please look up your own number.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: Google
(http://www.google.com/ ) Type your phone number in the search bar
(i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to B L O C K Google
from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone
number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.

Mine just came up and it's supossed to be PRIVATE! I pay $$ to have my # blocked.

I did this a long time ago. It's been that way for a really long time - you can google any phone number anywhere & get the info...

Definitely remove yourself!!!!

mine didnt but we are not even listed in the phone book

fh's does but they are listed in the phone book

sorry to crash - those ladies who put their #s in and it didn't come up, do you have regular phone service, DSL, or cable? i wonder if that makes a difference becaue i put my # in and it didn't come up.

but now that i think of it....if you phone number is listed you can just look it up in the phone book and use map quest to get a map its the same thing.....just easier doing it the google way.

it's not the only site that does this.
it totally *****, but it's no differant than going to yellowpages.com or something and getting the address and typing it into mapquest.

if someone has your HOME phone number, they can find their way to your house. It's been like this for years.

Scary, but true.

i have verizon.

But FH has his phone through Cable as well and his # came up.

i think it has to do with if you are listed in the phonebook or not

we are listed in the PB we have verizon....or # didnt come up in the google thing............but FH has veizon too and they are listed and they came up............i dont know.
