Please suggest a FABULOUS trip for me to take my mom on...

I would like treat my mom to a great trip as part of her birthday gift and thank you for my wedding.

There are a few things to consider...

My mom is on dialysis so our trip must be short (3 days max)...

Last year we went to the Bahamas for 5 days and dialysis had to be paid for in CASH ($2000 for 2 treatments)! Her insurance will only cover dialysis within the US.

I was thinking perhaps stay at a fancy hotel in NYC and get spa treatments, go to a Broadway show, and a great dinner..... this is my fall back option.

We can fly somewhere on Friday afternoon and come back on Monday. Ladies, I really want this to be special because my mom is turning 65!

I was also thinking vegas since we have never been. what do you think? do you think the cost would get out of hand??

Please suggest trips or hotels that would be great for a big weekend out.

My mom has been fighting cancer for 3 years, and two years ago we went on a 3-day trip to Charleston, South Carolina. It was AMAZING. There is so much to do - so many gorgeous old homes to tour, gardens to walk through, ghost tours at night, boat trips, a beach... and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Our hotel - the French Quarter Inn - was really lovely and in a pretty part of town with such good restaurants within walking distance. 3 days was the perfect amount of time - we really felt like we got to see it all before we left. It was a perfect 'girls vacation' for my mom and her daughters.

Thanks Mary! I need a new, two-handed pic of myself up there now.

My mom is... okay. Still fighting. The trip to Charleston was SOOOO good for her, but even better, she and I spent 8 days in Spain later that summer. She'd never been to Europe and wants to 'see it all' now. Thanks for asking.
