Please tell me your great shower ideas

I have two bridal showers to work on and would love some ideas from you ladies. One will definately be a Jack and Jill the other will be more traditional. What have you seen/done lately at showers that made them unique and fun?

Thanks

I absolutely loved my shower. My MOH knew I wasnt into white, doves, bells and stuff like that - so she gave me a 'love' themed shower. Everything was covered in red and pink - red heart favors, red heart invites, a wishing well covered in red buttons, a red boa and red bow hat for my embarassment, red rose centerpieces, love inspired prizes for the games, etc..

I haven't had mine yet, but I know my MOH is doing a 'wine and candles' theme. She is asking guests to bring candles or wine instead of a wishing well - TG.

My mon did something really cute for my shower. She got heart shaped cookie cutters and made up a 'love' recipe card which was actually a cookie recipe and had the baker at Milleridge make the cookies to serve with cake. Everyone loved the idea. So did I.

The last one I went to they had this book- it was cute Bridal Shower Book
They also have it at Michael's-- so if you wait until there is a 50% off coupon it is only $6.
Something I thought was really cool which may be good for the Jack and Jill shower is when they set a timer and if the bride and groom are opening your present when the timer goes off you get a prize. It might be a good way to keep people's attention while all the gifts are opened.

I heard of a jack & jill shower where the gifts were wrapped in clear (but colored) paper, so they were on display and people could see what the gift was, but nothing was opened

Shower games: How many is too many?
Door Prize: Take the envelopes from the brides thank you cards and have every one write down their name's and addresses on the envelope, put the envelopes in a basket and draw one, that one is a WINNER! Plus this helps the bride get her Thank you cards out sooner.
Toilet Paper Bride: Depending on how many guests there are, split the group up into teams, give each team 3 rolls of TP, the teams have 5min. to decorate one of their team members in a toilet paper bridal gown, and the bride will pick the winning team.
Cooking Basket: There will be a basket full of cooking items in the middle of the room, every one will have 1min. to look at the basket and try to memorize every thing in the basket. The basket is then covered up and the timmer starts every one has 3min to write down every thing they can remember was in the basket.

'practice bouquet toss'--okay this takes like two seconds, and is good for those who are reluctant to do games. make a bouquet with fake flowers in the colors you're using for the shower decorations. have guests gather, bride toss. catcher wins a prize.

second, get together with the groom ahead of time, and ask him questions about him, the bride, their relationship, etc. write each question and answer on a card. at the shower, pass out the cards and have guests take turns asking the bride how the groom would have answered those questions. each time she gets one wrong, she has to start chewing a piece of gum (so if she gets a lot wrong, she's trying to talk though a mouthful of gum). we did simple questions (groom's fave restaurant, bride's fave movie), some funny ones (got groom to tell us a funny story about something that happened to them, or bride's most annoying habit, and made questions about those), some sweet ones (about engagement, first kiss, etc). we also wrote one card in a special ink color, and whoever had that card got a prize. if you have a lot of guests and therefore a lot of questions, use trident or similar small gum...we used bubblicious, and she couldn't fit more than five pieces or so in her mouth.

to save some money or to give better prizes, you can make centerpieces out of the prizes and get two birds with one stone. for example, we had an around-the-clock shower (each guest brought a gift to be used at a certain time of day), and i made the prize/centerpieces to go with the theme...one big yellow flowerpot with some yellow and blue bath items, a 'sunshine' scented candle with blue holder, a blue coffee mug, etc; one fun red flowered tray with a cute green cup, a vase with a red flower, some sunscreen lipbalm, red shower gel or body spray (i can't remembr!), etc; one white make-up organizer with lavendar package of night-time bath salts, an eye mask, light purple foot lotion, a cd of classical music (with white cover), etc.
