i love the carlyle, FH loves lands end. can we hear any suggestions in favor or against either place. thanks!!

Lands End is amazing! I know the food is excellent as well. That is where I would pick, but you have to pick what you love!!!

I have been to both places and both are fantastic. There are a few questions that need to be answered. Are they the same price? Lands End is really far. The wedding I went to at Carlyle was a day wedding during the summer months and there were golfers everywhere. The bride did not notice it but me and my Fi thought it was amusing. Getting back to Lands End. They cocktail hour would have been outside but it rained. I think that is the beauty of Lands End. The room we thought was very plain. All white. It kind of looked like a barn. The food was good at both places. I think Carlyle has a rep for being a notch above Lands End. But then again at what price.

I went to yabbobay's wedding at land's end, and it was wonderful. The cocktail hour and all of the food was great, as well as the ceremony location, it was outside with the bay behind them. I have never been to the Carlyle but Land's End was great.

I'm a Carlyle on the Green to be bride. But, let me say this..in the beginning my FH and I really wanted to have a wedding on Shelter Island, renting out the whole hotel and having the water, beach etc... I've been to Lands End, it is nice because of the water etc..However, in the end after going from beach, to golf course to Manhattan, FH and I really like Carlyle. Yes, we would like to have some water shots, so that is where the limo company and the photographer come in. We are planning a brief limo ride to the water for some great photo ops. LOL

I went to look at Land's End and liked it very much. I had always wanted a waterfront location, and it was definitely the nicest one I saw, but I went with Carlyle for a few reasons.
1) It was just so elegant! 2) The drive to Land's End was not pretty and it was very, very out of the way. Most people I knew were coming from Nassau County. 3) I loved the idea of having a seperate ceremony room. 4) It was just so elegant and that is what I really wanted.
Although I don't remember noticing the ceiling tiles when I was there, I agree with Sept20yay about them.

O.K. it is 1:20 AM and my head is spinning. In the torential (sp?) rainfall and flooding of today I managed to go visit 6 places on L.I. I lost my steam at around 8 PM so I never made it to Land's End but before I make it out there can someone tell me what their average price per head is for a sat/friday night wedding May-Sept? Plus, I may only have about 100-110 people - do they have minimums I won't hit?

I am not sure if Lands End is the same exact price and min as Flowerfield but I would assume they would be. For Flowerfield on a sat night you need min 160 @ 180/pp...I think.

My vote is Lands End. I loved that place! The bridal suite alone is enough to want to book there. It was a choice for us too, although we went with Milleridge. If I could have 2 weddings that is where I would have my other one. Good luck!

I have been to weddings at both places and seriously considered Lands End for my own wedding. They are both gorgeous and you can't go wrong with either. My thoughts about the differences between the two center on formality. The Carlyle seems much more formal to me whereas Lands End seems more cozy and warm. JMO- it's a hard decision for sure!
