Pls help me find kitchen table:

I have been looking high and low for a dark wood (cherry) kitchen table. It has to relatively small but have seating for 4. Can be square or round. But it has to have clean lines (no country, no ornate english tudor, no colonial, etc..)

Everything I find is in light wood! What is that about?

I found a copper topped table at Crate and Barrell but its $1K without the chairs. Thats too rich for my blood.

Anyone else have any ideas?

The JC Penny Catalog has a set for $399.00 ...

Either 42' Round with 2 - 8' leaves + 4 chairs
or
36'x36' Square with 2 - 10' drop leaves + 4 chairs

Choice of 3 different chairs to choose from. Choice of 3 different finishes (one was dark cherry, another was mahogany, and I forget the other ...)

I just saw it last night in the book - no clue about quality or anything but thought it was a pretty great price.

Might be worth it to check out.

There are 2 dinette stores right across the street from the Source Mall on Old Country Road. Maybe look there?

I know you live in Brooklyn, but there is an amazing furniture store called All-Wood furniture in Farmingdale They have the HUGEST selection of all wood tables...in all sizes. It maybe worth it to come out to Farmingdale to check them out. Their prices are pretty good. If not there...there are TONS of furniture stores up and down Rt 110!!

Thanks Jan..but that style is very country. They have another table that I like with stainless accents but its way too big :( It seems anything that is not country cute is meant for a dining room. Grrr!

Lisa - I just went there this weekend and that was my first thought when I saw this but I know that it is hard for Stef to get there - but if you can - it did have a lot of kitchen tables. They had a whole rool full of kitchen tables. I bought a console table there for $260 and it was so similar to the one I originally bought (and had to return) to Pottery Barn for $400 and this one comes put together - you can pick it up (no delivery fee) and it seemed liked nicer quality. It was a good find. Some of stuff didn't seem the best but they also had some nice stuff.

Ive been to some furniture stores like the ones in LI (not sure if they are exactly the same) but all I seem to see is country, country, country. Or if it a nice design, its too big or it in a very light wood or glass top or painted. I just dont want to go all the way to LI to find the same crap, you know?

Thanks cooky but thats too big, too light and the chairs are too high for my kitchen.

I found this site (Canadel) but I cant figure out where they sell their stuff. All of their stuff comes in a variety of stains so i get something darker to match.

or something like this without the arms and shorter

This is ours, I love it but doesn't come in Cherry.

Stef becareful because there are different shades of Cherry. That was my problem with my maple cabinets.

This one also comes with a glass top! We took the wood.

Im okay with it not being an exact match. Cherry is a wood and its a color stain. So I dont need the wood to be cherry, just the stain to be in the reddish dark family. It doesnt have to be exact. But all i find is light, light, light.

Did you try Gothic? They have inexpensive tables/chairs in a variety of styles & stains.

There is a gothic near me but the people who work there are semi retarded. Whenever I go in there to ask for something, they try to push some other product on me. Not sure if they have the style i want but if they do, their employees dont know about it.

I second Gothic. Try a different one if the one by you isn't that good. We had all the furniture for my sisters apartment made there (small city apartment and she needed specific dimensions) and it came out great. They did it exactly like she wanted and it can be in any stain. She got a dresser, nightstand, small kitchen table for 2 and 2 chairs. Sorry no pictures though but it was all clean straight lines.

Anyone know where restaurants buy their tables? There always seems to be smallish, dark wood tables that have a really nice laquer to protect them from damage. But I have no idea where they buy them.

I was at Linens 'n Things last night and saw a dark wood pub table with a pair of chairs for ~$300. It's exactly what I've been looking for for months too! It's so hard to find small, high, dark wood tables!!!!

I would show you a picture, but they don't have it on the Linens 'n Things website. It's the type of thing that you'd see at say, Chili's restaurant, in the bar area, but this table is bigger (a little more on the square side as opposed to rectangular).

Hardwood and veneers...whole set is $1049 (table chairs and bookcase)...just table is $219 and chairs are $69 each.
