I have been looking high and low for a dark wood (cherry) kitchen table. It has to relatively small but have seating for 4. Can be square or round. But it has to have clean lines (no country, no ornate english tudor, no colonial, etc..)
Everything I find is in light wood! What is that about?
I found a copper topped table at Crate and Barrell but its $1K without the chairs. Thats too rich for my blood.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Not too keep pushing this on people, but my dad can make you a custom table any style you want and stain it to match your cabinets.

Someone else posted about this, but All Wood Furniture is where I got mine. What is great is that if you see something you like, it comes in a selection of different woods. Their prices are not bad either. THere is one in Farmingdale and also Smithtown, but they may have a store closer to you.

sorry, i feel like a big dork not necessarily... I find his prices are less than companies like Ethan Allen but last way longer. the way I see it is you are spending a lot of money on making the kitchen look good- the kitchen set gets used and abused.. so why not have it be something of quality. I know i've mentioned this before- but everything is guaranteed for as long as you own the product, you have full customization available to you in term of size, design, color, etc.

Stef, there is like three Gothic stores on Seventh Ave, closer to 9th St and higher, did you try any of them, besides whatever one is near you?
Also, I don't know of the cross street, but there is bunch of russian furniture warehouses around McDonald Ave in Brooklyn. The styles tend to be more modern, perhaps you can find something there... Also, there is a fairly good range of prices (I remember many places being too pricey for our cheaper tastes, but we still found our wardrobe and a couch there). If you need the cross St., you'll have to wait till tomorrow, Lenny is super busy at work and he know it.

Thanks sassy but Ethan Allen is like $1500 just for the table. I dont really want to spend $3K on 4 chairs and a table. Im sure its totally worth it but I dont really need the table to last me the rest of my life.
Stef - I just wanted to tell you that Canadel is sold by Fortunoff and a furniture chain on Long Island called Island Dinette. I am sure other stores distribute their furniture as well, but those are the two I know for certain sell Canadel.

My dining room table is from Canadel and we got it in a dark finish, but they do have the cherry color finish. And you can get it in oak or birchwood. Fortunoff's does sell it, but we ordered ours through a NC broker and saved tons.

Are you against a hightop kitchen table? Because I really like one that has a cherry finish.
