Re: Plumber recommendations ?
Anna; I don't have a plumber to recommend, but your comment about 'hasn't called back' struck a nerve. Hubby and I can't believe how many people we've contacted don't follow through. So far, the list is:Two different lawn services when we were looking for someone to mow our lawn.
A landscaper that spent an hour looking at our property and talking with us, that never sent the promised proposal and estimate.
An alarm service that we had to call back requesting the estimate - it came and wasn't really what we had discussed, and he never called to follow up.
Our oil company - we've been trying to get an estimate on making some corrections to our single-zone heating - they've been GREAT on standard service, but getting someone to come here to look a the layout of the heat system, then to send the estimate, is an ongoing process of phone calls.
An exterminator - they kept paging the 'wildlife expert' who NEVER called back, and the company didn't seem to concerned that we weren't getting service.
The company that fixed the chimney promised to send the sample book for the masonry so we could look at samples to have the inside fireplace re-done. They didn't send it, and calls to have someone set an appointment got nowhere.
I can't believe how many people don't seem to want to do business! And we've been ready to spend some money in each case.

Re: Plumber recommendations ?
Karen,
WOW you guys are being given the run around by everyone at once ! That is so fustrating ! One at a time I can handle. After that, I get pretty 'blunt' with them on the phone
Youre right, they are losing business and dont even seem to be phased by it !
In some cases, I would talk to management. Sometimes that helps, especially if its a big chain, but most of these guys are mom and pop businesses that have such a huge established client base, that they dont need the extra business and could care less if they are rude..HOW RUDE !
You mentioned you have a fireplace. If you plan to have it cleaned out once a year, which we do, I strongly recommend http://www.chiefchimney.com/
They are a husband-wife team. They are honest, sincere, clean and organized, punctual and polite !
We are really happy with using them since we've lived here (2yrs.)... They even leave candy and little figurines of firemen or men on ladders or something, when they leave for the day.
They are adorable. They book up fast, so call asap if you plan to use them
