Plus one?

Re: Plus one?

Serious relationships, yes. Though there's some we're giving a +1 to that don't have a serious relationship but we're going to give them anyway, for certain reasons. It really depends on the person.

Everyone is getting a plus one. I think that as an adult every person should have the option to bring a guest. We want everyone to relax and have a great time.

That's my thing, I want everyone to enjoy themselves.

I am giving a plus one to everyone! I trust my friends and family to only use it if they feel it is necessary (to feel comfortable or to bring someone that is important to them) I don't think it's fair to have a policy on who's relationship actually matters enough to have them attend my wedding. It's happened to me before and its insulting. I was invited without a plus one when I was dating my now FH- clearly, we were serious, but he couldn't come... lame! lol

With that being said, your budget is your budget, if you can't afford it then that is completely your call... but recognize that not everyone will actually use their plus one (do you really want to bring some 'new guy' along to a wedding?) JMO.

I'm giving it to everyone. I feel everyone has a right to bring a date, I want everyone to feel comfortable and have fun.

We kind of gaged it on a case by case. Like if the person is single but wouldn't really know anyone else, they got a plus one. If the person is single, but knows a ton of our friends and family - no plus one. I know personally, if I was invited to a wedding, and didn't know anyone besides the married couple, I would want someone to come with me.

This as well! Definitely depends on whether or not they know others. None of my coworkers are getting a plus one, but there's an entire table of them so they can hang out together. If I was only inviting one coworker then id give them a plus one.

This exactly. My general rule is married/engaged/serious long term relationship. But I know i have 2 friends who are single and would be very uncomfortable and not know many people. So i want to give them the option to bring someone (although i doubt they would) It's way too expensive to pay for someone to bring their 'flavor of the month' in my opinion.

Yes! To me it's not about how important their relationship is it's about respect and etiquette. I feel as an adult they should be given a +1 and I already know tons of my single friends that will RSVP alone.

We gave plus ones to those in serious relationships. There were 4 people we didn't give plus ones to and no one has said anything. If they're insulted, don't come! lol

We are doing it for pretty much everyone, except some of our cousins who are like 18 and have a new significant other every other week, lol.

This!

We're giving it to everyone. I'm afraid we won't meet the minimum lol. Also, we want everyone to have the option.

We are giving plus ones to engaged, married, and those who are in a relationship 1 year or more.

This! I don't want FH's friends bringing some hoochie-who that they just started hooking up with 2 weeks ago.

This... Plus we're not overinviting, so we have room for all plus ones.

I would love to give a plus one to everyone, but realistically, I've had to cut people off of my list that I'm actually friends with and I just can't afford it.

I've only been invited to weddings with a guest when I was in a serious relationship. When I was single I wasn't and wouldn't have expected to be. I'm doing dates for those that are engaged/serious relationship and BP.

Completely agree with both of you. We'll be extending plus ones to everyone over 18.

We did everyone with a plus one . I would personally be upset if I was dating someone and couldn't bring them but that's just my opinion

WELL...

when I first met my FH his cousin who was getting married in 9/2013 (now is married)...told me 'NO RING YA DON'T BRING' and I found that highly insulting to say to someones face...Luckily we were engaged at the time of the wedding so he was invited with a plus one. LOL.

I will be inviting everyone with a plus one. i hope that people realize that if they don't have anyone worth bringing as their date (meaning someone important to them or in their lives for a long period of time) then won't just find someone to bring.

We are not doing 'plus ones' for most people. However, I don't consider it a plus one if they are in a relationship (regardless of the length of it-I don't feel it's up to me to gauge the seriousness of someone else's relationship). Everyone in a relationship at the time invitations go out will have their significant other invited by name, and the only people being given random plus ones are those that don't know anyone else, would be the only one in their group without someone, etc.

In all honesty, I think it's awful to be invited to a wedding without your boyfriend just because you're not engaged or married yet. It happened to me several times before FH and I were engaged and I found it really rude.

Thankfully in all the time I've been with him (nearly 5 years now), I've always been invited with him. However, twice I got put as 'Jonathan ______ & guest' By people who know we were super serious then. I get it now....wedding etiquette. But I thought I at least deserved a name! It made me think they thought he might bring someone else, lol.
