plus size brides......what style dress did u get?

I wasnt expecting to look 'good' in so many styles!! Prom dress shopping was a nightmare and I.weighed less then but still a plus size!! So far I like a trumpet style from David's and a ball gown from allure. A ball gown is NEVER what I wanted!! So the lady said we can take out 2 layers of tulle making it more like an aline dress now which I like much better. EVERYONE says I.look thinner in the Allure dress and I agree I guess I just want to be more sexy.....as fun as dress shopping is this is hard!!! Oh and those if u that have good memory and remember I had my hard set on an alfred Angelo dress with a color train it was ok, the front was so boring! So I don't think that is the one!!!
I'm curious to see what ever one else got! I tired to add pics let's see if it worked!!!

That's so pretty!! Im so confused now! I haven't fallen completely in love with one yet but my.top choices are 2 completely different styles!! Lol

I got the same dress! Although I did order a different belt/sash.

In general I found that a-line dresses were best for my body type, and a corset back was my best friend when trying dresses on

I'm not a plus size bride, but Lorie was my dress! LOVED my dress and I got so many compliments on it!

I'm not a plus size bride, but Lorie was my dress! LOVED my dress and I got so many compliments on it!

Lorie was my runner up. I ended up with Maggie Sottero Lexie. But Lorie is a modified A line with a corset so its super flattering.

I just discovered stella york, demetrios and David tutera!! Which is carried at the 3 places I'm going this weekend so maybe I'll have better luck with them! Idk that I've seen that Lorie dress! I only remember puffy Maggie dresses!

I fell in love with a David tutera for mon Cheri. It was amazing. Aaannnnddd $3000!!! Yikes!

Oh great that will be my luck....u know seeing as we have very similar taste! Lol I saw they were $1500-$1700 at RK so maybe I'll get lucky!!

I looked great in a ball gown which I didn't expect but wanted a slim look so I ended up getting a strapless drop waist and will add a very full slip to give me the 'full' look of a ball gown. My gown is allure 9024

So pretty!! Drop waist I didn't like on me bc I have big hips and I don't like to see them lol

I want more of a sexy look not pretty pretty princess and so far ball gowns have looked best too!

I ended up with the Maggie Sottero - Embrace dress. I love it :)

I love Stella York dresses, I almost ended up with one! It was between the Stella & the Lorie, but I ultimately picked Lorie b/c it looked more 'bridal' IMO.

Yes I tried Stella on at Burton's. I know u can find places in NY that carry Stella if you go on their website, but Burton's was the only 1 on Long Island as far as I remember.

I think it really depends on what type of plus size you are. Like.. where do you carry your weight?

I'm 4'11 and a size 14. I looked ridiculous in HUGE over the top ballgowns... but i also could NOT do fit and flare/mermaids/trumpets.

The dress I chose as a corset back with a ruched fitted waist bodice and its technically a full a line? I tried on a lot of styles.

Did you take pics of the dresses?

I think you're right. I think the more I looked at the pictures I haven't found the one yet. I found somewhere to go and what looks good but neither one is the one. The trumpet style from David's bridal won't load. But I do have another similar dress I'll try to load them now.

Personally I don't think that dress does anything for you. You should check out dresses with a ruched/asymmetrical waist. something like these
