Police Wives

Original post by Thrilled

I figured wecould start our own thread that no one else would want to read! There are enough of us I think, to start one.

There is a website called www.policewives.org that isn't remendously helpful for our purposes, but they have cool merchandise etc. Might be fun to check it out.

Anyone have anything to contribute? I figure we do our research first, see what's out there in the way of NYPD support, and go from there. Maybe a website is the best way to get started, maybe holding a meeting somewhere if we get enough interest, spreading by word of mouth....I would say our objectives would be support for each other, and most importantly, the Department. We could hold fundraisters, organize book and toy drives etc...

Re: Police Wives

I like your idea Rachel. I would like to be involved in an organization like that. I was supposed to go Monday but my finace has RDO Court so all our plans were ruined for a change.

Monday is our 3 year anniversary too Anyway, keep me posted on everything and let me know how I can get involved.

Re: Police Wives

My DH is not a police officer, but my uncle was.

I commend you ladies, and your brave husbands. You deserve much more credit than you are given!

Here's a website that my aunt used to frequent...maybe it can help you coordinate your efforts here in NY.

Re: Police Wives

Enjoy the parade. I have gone in plenty of years and it is always a good time! My husband went in to march and I decided to sit this year out. Anyone who is going...ENJOY!!!!!!

Re: Police Wives

How was the parade? Did you find out any information? I was talking to Mark last night about our ideas for our group. He was not opposed to it, but did think that we should stay low key. Also, he told me one of the things Bloomberg was looking to cut off his budget were the benefits for the widows and orphans (***) !!!! Can you believe that. I was so mad when I heard that. We have to get this guy out as soon as possible, He can not be re-elected!!!!

Ladies - how about a police wives gtg? In Manhattan? Who can come? This can be a prelim meeting - a get to know each other meeting where we can chat and bounce ideas and drink and eat and smoke and whatever else... who is interested?

Re: Police Wives

I'd love to come, but if it's in Manhattan I can only make it on a weekend.

Re: Police Wives

I probably could, but I do have to say that evenings are pretty tough for me lately. I usually fall asleep by 7:00!
Hopefully I'll be more alert after my first trimester.

Re: Police Wives

Nassau would probably work really well too! Jenn I had no idea you were preggers! CONGRATS!

Miss Linda - other police wives are MORE than welcome! YES!

And other takers?
LizD Posted:

Re: Police Wives

I would be good for Nassau. I am not at all familiar with the city, and Mark is not big on me going to the city, especially w/o him.

Perfect - all police wives are welcome, absolutely. Now let's work on a date...April may pretty much be out....

Re: Police Wives

Hi ladies!

My FH is an NYPD sergeant, too!

We actually had to change our original wedding date because we realized it was the same day as the Puerto Rican Day Parade, and that's a mandatory work day. We would have lost a LOT of our guest list! So we made it a week earlier instead!

PS: I loved that poem!
