Police Wives

Original post by Thrilled

I figured wecould start our own thread that no one else would want to read! There are enough of us I think, to start one.

There is a website called www.policewives.org that isn't remendously helpful for our purposes, but they have cool merchandise etc. Might be fun to check it out.

Anyone have anything to contribute? I figure we do our research first, see what's out there in the way of NYPD support, and go from there. Maybe a website is the best way to get started, maybe holding a meeting somewhere if we get enough interest, spreading by word of mouth....I would say our objectives would be support for each other, and most importantly, the Department. We could hold fundraisters, organize book and toy drives etc...

Re: Police Wives

Wow, I miss so much when I don't log on from home over the weekend!! I would have to figure something out to get to LI, but I'm sure I can work something out. My only problem is I work until 7pm during the week. Let's see what we can do with dates and times. I'm very excited, I think this is a great idea Rachel!!

MissLinda my FH is also with the Port Authority. He was an NYPD cop for 5 years and left right after Sept. 11th for PAPD. Where is your FH/husband stationed? Is he in the pool?

Re: Police Wives

My FH is in the CPP (Central Park Precinct). He worked in the 43 in the Bronx for 11 years before making Sergeant and getting transferred to the Park. He's studying for the Lt's test now, and I hardly ever see him anymore. I live in Suffolk, he lives at the Bronx/Yonkers border. We see each other maybe once a week, and usually at crazy hours. But soon that will change..... Only 68 days to go to the Big Day!

Re: Police Wives

PS: Did any of your DH's, FH's tell you not to post pictures of them on the internet?? My FH doesn't want me to post our picture on our wedding web page with the Knot. Just curious.....

Thanks!

Re: Police Wives

Most cops are ultra-paranoid about their own personal safety, with good reason. Our number has never been published and never will be. I bte you guys don't have published numbers either.

Also, like I mentioned before, cops have a very keep-to yourselves and your buddies mentality, usually, so as not to draw too much attention. I think loudmouths in the department are viewed as troublemakers and/or political animals. I think the no pics on the internet thing is just a carryover of that.

Re: Police Wives

I agree, they are very private! I posted a pic of mine, but not where you could see his badge name/#. He wasn't thrilled with the idea of this wife group either. I guess it's something they embed in their minds in the academy!!

Re: Police Wives

Mine's afraid someone will recognize him as the arresting officer and track him down for revenge!!! He and his partner made over 500 arrests in the 43rd in the Bronx, which isn't the best neighborhood on earth... So I guess he's ultra paranoid. He won't even let me post ANY kind of picture, except maybe one where we're in Halloween costumes. Disguised!!!

He also thinks it's 'weird' to strike up friendships on the internet. But he forgets that WE met on Matchmaker.com!!

I understand why he feels that way, though.

Re: Police Wives

He works in Central Park now. He still lives in the Bronx, on the Yonkers border. I'll be moving there temporarily after we're married until we found a house together. Hopefully back on the Island!!
