POLL And VENT: are you or did you find out the babys sex??

Ok.... I want to know and now craig wants to be surprised! both my mom and his mom want to know.

I keep thinking girl and I am curious to know if I am right, plus I want to know for the room and stuff.

His mom thinks he is a moron lol for wanting to be surprised b/c she says she doesnt like yellow and green and I will get all yellow stuff.

My mom says she has a nervous stomach and cant take not knowing

I want to know, he doesnt, he said if I want to find out w/out him I can but he will be a little annoyed if I do

My DH wants to know and I don't. I can tell you I've changed my mind a million times, but we still don't know. DH is happy with our agreement - the first wil be a surprise and any subsequent will be known.

Tammy, for some reason I have boy vibes for you!

Tammy, no specifici reason, but I think I'm having a boy too. I think we'll be surprised if it is a girl - we've been referring to it as a he for so long!!

Re: POLL And VENT: are you or did you find out the babys sex??

My DH doesnt want to know - with #1 or now #2. I could have gone either way but it means so much to him to wait so I will. It was very very exciting to find out the second the baby came out so I try to keep that in mind as I wait and live vicariously through those who are finding out. I know lots of people have found out (on this board and otherwise) and been very happy they did. I am finding it harder to wait this time than last time.

I dont know if it works very well if one finds out and not the other. I would think there's an added pressure to the person who's in the know to make sure they never say 'she' or 'he' or to resist shopping for that gender. And what about picking names? If you know you are having a girl, will your heart be in helping pick a boy's name? I think those vibes will get picked up on...so I think that either both parents know or neither knows is the best bet.

ETA: I know your Mom & MIL are very excited but it should be based what you and Craig want to do. My Mom keeps putting the screws on me to find out too, she keeps saying she wants to know if she should knit a blue or pink sweater, meanwhile she doenst even know how to knit

We both wanted to know... and we are so glad that we did.. and so are both our parents..Like my FIL said now he does not have to prepare for a Bris and have all the stuff on standby and can enjoy himgrandchild and not worry about running around making arrangments...

I knew all along that i was having a girl

Re: POLL And VENT: are you or did you find out the babys sex??

my mom and stepmom begged us to find out, scott wanted to know but me, the single most inpatient person on the USA said NO!!!
I am not a fan of one knowing, one not because I don't think that usually works out well BUT it is a personal decision.

I painted the room a color that matched both my girls and my boys crib bedding set. I picked out the sets I wanted and ordered them after I came home from the hospital. I did all the research ahead of time and just had to go to the website and place the order. It worked out just fine.

It was actually a lot of fun torturing the majority of people in my family They all kept trying to guess and honestly most people said I was having a boy. Even the lady in the nail salon. Well Molly proved them all wrong. It was fun to wait. Plus I had heard too many stories with wrong info from u/s and didn't want that to happen to us.

Only you and your husband should be involved in the decision. The moms didn't get to know if we were or and somehow they managed

Tammy we found out because of the room thing...I didn't want to have everything yellow or green!!! I didn't like Green and DH said yellow was for.....well forget what he said anyway...I have to agree with all of you (you and your mom and his mom)!! Good luck convincing him!!!

True, my mom said all 6 of us were surprises! Talk about anticipation each time!

I waited to find out with #1
For #2 I knew I wouldn't be able to wait again

It is a personal decision, only you and Craig can decide. But his Mom is right - you will have a ton of yellow and green if you don't find out, I know I did!

I kept tags on the yellow and returned some it. I am not a fan of green so most people knew not to get me any mint green stuff. I LOVE hunter green and sage though.

Tough call. At first I wanted to find out b/c my MIL was pressuring us a bit and then I thought about the clothes issue. But then I heard someone tell their birth story and about the husband going out to the waiting room and announcing to the family 'It's a boy.'

I just felt like that moment was enough for me to wait and I can buy pink or blue clothes anytime. Tammy but you know I am biased so my opinion doesn't matter (b/c I want you to not find out like me). LOL.

We want to be surprised. We were a little worried that we would get everything in green and yellow for my baby shower, but we didn't.
We got white, yellow, green, red and blue.
We also got things in all different sizes. You could always exchange things for something else if you want later.

We aren't finding out either. We also want to be surprised, although I'll admit there are times when I am VERY curious.... but we are determined NOT to find out. We've even discussed that the next time we have a sonogram, we will make sure to tell the technician we don't want to know so that he/she can tell us when and when not to look at the screen.

My husband didnt' want to know either. and I did. We had decided not to, and then after 40 minutes of that ultrasound, and seeing all the other parts, we decided - how could we leave without knowing.

I dont' know if you ever read my post on this - you can try to find it. You might want to read it and tell it to your husband, because it ended up being an amazing moment that we shared between the two of us. i have no regrets and neither does he. we were just as surprised at that moment that we had a daugher on the way. I loved finding out. I really did. And we decorated a beautiful room and got things ready.

I had a hard time with my pregnancy in the beginning as we were sort of caught off guard with it. I really felt that findng out the sex brought me closer and more in tune with my little peanut.

I didn't get any clothes at my shower, actually a few little things but I was not innundated with yellow and green at all. I wouldnt make that the basis of finding out the gender. Not knowing the gender personally saved me alot of money LOL, I kept seeing 'the cutest stuff' and it killed me that I couldn't buy anything since we didnt know but guess what....there's always going to be more of the 'cutest stuff' out there. Baby clothes are just too adorable for words!

We also had a hard time explaining to people that we didn't want to know because everyone's first reaction is how can you decorate or get clothes for the baby!? Like Michele said ( I think) plenty of generations before us were able to do it w/o any problems! I seriously got to the point though were I just told people that kept complaining not to bother getting any clothes or anything if it was that big of a deal! We managed to find a lot of great stuff from the nursery to the clothes, you just have to be willing to look around!

Re: POLL And VENT: are you or did you find out the babys sex??

Tammy, I am going to have to bump this thread when I am pregnant because I know this is going to be an issue for me. Personally, I like the idea of being suprised, but I have this strange, intense aversion to the color yellow and I am so afraid of getting eight million yellow outfits, blankets and shoes that I would not ever put on my baby. Oh, yeah, and Keith wants to find out.

But we already have a sage green spare bedroom, so we might just go with that and not find out.

Let us know what you decide
