It was one of those things that I'd never thought twice about until I sit here finalizing these forms for my meeting tomorrow. We're doing a lot of group dances so now I'm leaning towards no. Also, there aren't a lot of single ladies at the wedding and the ones who are won't get up probably. Who's skipping it because I'm thinking of just crossing it off. I could still do the garter removal but FH is so awkward he'd love to skip it!

No, we are not doing it. We really don't have many single friends left. I think we are planning on doing an anniversary dance instead.

Yes, but those catching them will not be putting the garter back onto the other guest! Just simple: toss, catch, cheer, done.

We are doing the bouquet toss but not the garter. I think it could totally be skipped for you, especially if you have a lot of other things going on. People just want to dance! I may change my mind about doing the bouquet toss though, because I went to a wedding recently and the dance floor kept being stopped for these traditional 'mandatory' things and it was a little annoying.

I like that idea! I would let people know you are doing it that way. More people might particiapte then. I know a lot of my friends are turned off by having to have some guy put a garter on them let alone someones 14 years nephew!
We recently decided not to do them. We like how my friend didn't and it was another 15 minutes or so of dancing!

We are skipping it too! I was never really a fan of either of these things and would just rather not have it done at my wedding.

nope to both. I was single for a very long time. I always hated that part of weddings and never got up to participate. The older I got, the worse it got. It's just not something I would get up and participate in and I don't want to embarrass any of my few remaining single friends/family.

I honestly never went up for the bo-k toss, I always thought it was a dated tradition. The garter I always thought was funny but don't see the point of doing 1 w/out the other. So basically I am pretty solid that FH & I will be skipping both of these traditions.

I think the only reason we're doing them is that I'm wearing a Mets garter lololol
We seriously have to look into how many single people are going to be at our wedding. We don't want to do them if there's going to be like 3 people for each toss, thats just cruel lolol

we havent decided yet, i really need to look at my list and see how many single ppl we have... if we only have like 4 or 5 then its a little silly for us to do it, so we have to see

Nope we didn't do it, because there weren't a lot of single ladies or men at our wedding and the ones that were, were older and wouldn't get up for it lol.

We're doing both...we have a party-type crowd going & I just think they are fun. I caught the boK at a g/f's wedding 2 years ago and FH (weren't engaged at that time) did not catch the garter. A friend of mine did. It was no big deal...FH didn't care at all and it was just all in good fun. Made for some great pics too!
