We are having my nieces & nephews at the wedding, although I wouldn't mind if my cousins kids came too. My nieces/nephews are also in the bridal party. It's a personal preference, though. You & your FH should do what makes you happy. Will you feel like the atmosphere will be less elegant if you have kids? With a poll that's tallied so close, I guess we weren't really that helpful. Good luck & Happy New Year!

i am having my niece and 2 nephews. the niece is 6, my FG and she is well behaved. out if the 2 nephews (both RBs) one of them is iffy. one is 2 and the other is 9. the 9 year old isnt so crazy about being a ring bearer (he is getting to that age..), and the 2 year old will only be walking down the aisle if he doesnt scream before walking down. i have a back up plan if he starts to cry. i am kind of worried about what will happen with him at the ceremony, but he will definately not be going to the reception and this is something my sister wants, he can be a real handful...

i cant imagine them not being a part of my ceremony.

but no one elses kids are allowed...

No kids at my wedding. IMO kid's do not belong at a Saturday night Black Tie event, but again that is JMO.

thats exactly how i feel, but fh seems to think well be offending people...grrr

we're having FH's niece who is the flower girl and that's it. i don't think a nightime wedding is a good place for kids.

Only the important kids - BP, RB, and RB's little brother....

The only kids we had at our wedding were first cousins. The youngest was 10 and was a jr. BM.

The only kids at the reception will be my 2 nieces who are the flower girls. But even then, i don't think they're going to stay for the whole thing.

My whole view point on the kids thing is... unless they're able to bring a friend with them, they don't have any fun and are bored easily. Trust me, i think they'd have more fun back at the hotel with a group of kids and a babysitter.

we have 9 kids in the Bridal Party so we are having immediate family and out of state family. My FH and I love kids and have 3 nieces and 6 nephews so we were bound to have them. But I do think it's a whole other mood to the wedding...and if you don't want kids on the dance floor, and want a more you know, adult feel, then I would only invite who you have to.

We did b/c it was very important to me. FH (oops, I mean DH) didn't necessarily like the idea way back when, but I think I probably told him several times, before we even got married that I always wanted all the kids there. I'm the oldest of about 30 grandchildren, and we're all close. To me, they added to the night. They were all behaved and thrilled to be a part of my day. I know a lot of people would think I'm crazy, but what it boils down to is that it's an individual thing - some think it's inappropriate and some think it's not.

we were very very lucky, since we are the oldest of all the siblings and the first to get married and only 2 of our friends have kids so we were able to have a children free wedding. Our two friends with children have newborns that were between 1-3 months at our wedding and both were kind enough to leave their children with their relatives.
All of our parents cousins that have children are all our age and none of them have kids yet so for us, it really was not an issue.

Only kids we planned to have were the FG and RB, but since the reception started at 7:30 it was past their bedtime, and their dad ran them home. They had a sitter so it worked out great. Although I would have loved to have them walk in with the BP, it was late.

We're not having any kids at our wedding.

Since I'm the only one that voted for 'only OOT kids' I'll respond. We invited adults only, had adults only printed on the RSVP card and spread the word that it was a 6 hour wedding ending at 1am and kids were innapropriate. With that said, the FG was DH's sister, the RB was his nephew and godson and the other RB was the MOH's son and our godson - so they came. Plus my family (sisters and brothers) were from OOT and brought their kids and DH's cousin from OOT brought her kids. In all, it was the BP kids and OOT, no one else was allowed to or brought their kids. And whoever didn't like it - tough!

only kids that are related to us. we're not inviting the kids of friends that are coming. but we love kids and it would be weird if no kids were there at all.

ETA - my reception ends @ 1:30am so I don't think the kids will make it to the end anyway. the parents of the kids that are coming are already making arrangements to have the kids go home early.

No kids, the only little kids in our families are our 1st cousins kids, and if we were to invite them from both families we would add about 15 people to our guest. We explained this to all of the parents and they were more then fine with it, they were happy to have an 'adult' night.

we're having kids but personally i don't want too...we're only having kids because his sisters have a lot of them and i don't think its fair to invite them and not other children

Re: poll: are you having/had kids at your wedding?

We did...but only ones that were important to us...not so and so couldn't find a sitter so they brought their kids...ummm...NO!

Our Nieces and Nephews...to us they're like our own...it just would not have been the same without them there. They ranged from ages 4-9.

Then there were my Cousins...still, not sure if they're considered kids... They (all guys) range in ages from 12-20 and were invited without guests. They're second Cousins, but VERY close to both DH & I. They had a blast and will always have the memory of this being their first wedding. We both felt honored when they shared that with us.

ETA: Yes, we got married on a Sunday afternoon. No matter what day or time we got married...all would have been included.
