POLL: Bathroom attendants - yay or nay??

My hall provides bathroom attendants....I don't know, I've always been really annoyed by them. They bother me. I like to take my time washing my hands...I can get my own hand towel, and I just feel like they are sitting there staring at me waiting for a tip for doing nothing.

But, I feel like some people may like the idea of a bathroom attendant...plus, that would take one thing off my to-do list (I wouldn't have to do the bathroom baskets if I have a bathroom attendant there...I assume they have some supplies with them)....

What would you do? Bathroom attendant or no bathroom attendant? Do you expect a nice, classy place to have one, or is it just a bother?

I think they are key to keeping the bathroom in place...people can be slobs in public places. I found that whenever I was at a place with an attendent, they made sure the sinks were not splashed with water, the stalls were kept up with paper etc. They also offer help to anyone who may need something...ex. needle and thread...

If they are offering it, I think you should go for it. It will just aid in making your guests more comfortable.

exactly what i was going to say! the attendants help wipe the sink area and keep it dry, they make sure there's always paper towels and toilet paper for the guests and make sure the floor is clean.

I agree with this too but I really do hate bathroom attendants. I feel so uncomfortable and I tend to get pee shy. I hate when people can hear you.

My hall provides one and I met one of them at the time of one of our visits and she was very pleasant. No pressure at all. I'd say if they provide it, why not, at least you'll know the bathroom will be clean, smell nice and have enough tissues and paper towels.

That is why I hate them. I asked my hall about them, and they said they are not provided because guests feel obligated to offer tips and they don't like that. (also no tip jar for bartender).

I voted No, just because of the tipping thing, I hate feeling obligated to pay someone for handing me a paper towel when I could have gotten it myself.

I also wouldn't assume they come with supplies and you may still need to provide a bathroom basket. You can always ask to find out.

If the hall provides them and it saves you the trouble of having to make a bathroom basket, go for it.
If you decide to have the attendant, maybe you could tip her in advance and make sure that a tip jar isn't out so that your guests don't feel pressured to tip?

I agree with you, I hate bathroom attendants standing there waiting for a tip! So I voted for No. I can understand you wanting to get out of making bathroom baskets, but seriously I did them and they're probably the easiet DIY we've done!!

Just buy a bunch of travel size stuff at a drug store or dollar store and then put them in a basket. We decorated ours a lil, but that's totally optional.

I don't think people will expect you to have an attendant, nor will they miss someone handing them a towel and turning the water on for them, as long as it's clean.

I have bathroom attendants (they came w my contract) but I still have to do baskets. I asked if these attendants were expecting tips. I do not want a tip jar/basket whatever at either the restrooms or the bar. I find them tacky.

hey - thanks for asking....no, it hasn't been dealt with yet...FH will be handling it....I will freak out and go completely bridal on their asses and there is no way I can be rational.

Bathroom attendants make me so uneasy - especially at a restaraunt - I'm not expecting them at the bathroom, and yes - they are all over you - who brings money to the bathroom????
