With all the added expense of what the bridal party incurs participating in the wedding, do you still expect a monetary gift from them at the wedding? Just curious.....

Re: Poll: Bridal Party
I put 'some yes, some no' because my BP are in a wide range of financial situations. For instance, with the girls, I have some BM that are in grad school like me and are poor, while my MOH told me a few days ago she was looking in the Gucci home section for my wedding gift!

Re: Poll: Bridal Party
Haven't really thought about it.... BUT, none of my girls helped AT ALL with my shower!!! My mom did it all by herself. Granted most are out of state, but no one called to even offer ideas. My mom mailed them all invites & 4 of them didn't even rsvp.... grrrrr My MOH helped maybe 10% (but didn't offer to chip in $$). SO, I say I deserve a gift now!!

I put sme yes and some no. Only 2 people gave gifts...my MOH (who really shouldn't have because she did so much!) and one BM.

Re: Poll: Bridal Party
I would never think of not giving a gift to a bride, even if I was in her BP so I said yes, am I greedy??

I know that being a BM is a lot of money, but I still expect a gift. I was a BM for all of my BM's, and I pitched in and got them something nice. I know that they will do the same for me.

Yes! Especially if the Mom pays. Most of the weddings I have been involved in the MOm either paid, or contributed a great amount.

Re: Poll: Bridal Party
I dont know if I would say I'd 'expect' a gift, but I ALWAYS give a gift, even when I'm a bridesmaid.

I feel if you are in a BP that is something you should do.

I'm not expecting any gifts, but I have been a MOH 4 times and have always given a monetary gift.

Re: Poll: Bridal Party
I gave less of a gift to my friend when I was in her BP because I was tight on money and FH and I had to fly to the Caribbean for the wedding - if it was local, she certainly would have gotten a good $$ gift.

I know you shouldn't really expect anything, but I think it is appropriate because I would definitely give a gift - usually MORE than I would normally give if I'm a bridesmaid. But, I am now realizing that MANY people really don't know what proper wedding ettiqutte is - I think its really common for people to be really clueless when it comes to this stuff, especially guests.

No, I did not expect gifts from my BP. Some gave, some didn't. I think ultimately most didn't.

Re: Poll: Bridal Party
well - yes but not a large one, you know! you cant expect a BM to pay for a dress, shoes, hair, makeup, bachelorette party, etc. and still fork over like 500 bucks, you know?

Re: Poll: Bridal Party
i didnt expect it at all... but my BMs were ridiculously generous. serisouly, for some of them it was really their 'first' wedding in that sense too b/c i was the 1st to get maried, so i didnt even think they would know the 'routin'... which was completely fine by me, as most of them weret in great financial positions anyway, but they gave SOOO much.. i honestly felt bad, and wanted to give it back to them!

Re: Poll: Bridal Party
In my case, my mom is throwing the shower and I think I might skip the bachelorette party. So really all my bridesmaids are paying for are their dresses and I expect to pick moderatly priced dresses. So really there is no excuse. I'm not expecting the world but I don't expect them to come empty handed either.
