POLL: Brides getting married on site....

POLL: Brides getting married on site....

I am getting married on site and trying to decide if I should see FH before the ceremony so we can do our pictures.

OK some background information: Originally we did not want to do this but the more I think about it the more I think it will be a good idea because:

1 - We live together and see eachother everyday
2 - The first time he sees me in my gown will be private and special
3 - It will help take the edge off my nervousness if I have him by my side all morning
4 - We will be able to attend most of the cocktail hour.
5 - If we do the pictures AFTER the ceremony...it will be rushed, I will get cranky/snappy...it could ruin my mood!
6 - Also my catering hall has a lot of places to take pictures....gardens, golf course, beaches and I want to take advantage of all of these!

Anyway....just let me know what you are doing!!! Thanks!

I am taking them before the ceremony... I want to be able to get them all out of the way so i can have fun... my video & photo are going to make a big moment on film when we first see each other

Every point you made applies to me; we are getting our photos before as well.

I plan on seeing FH...i mean we're in the same situation you are...we live together and see each other every day...plus its a special moment between the two of us that can't be duplicated...yeah walking down the aisle and seeing him waiting for me there is nice but i want to be able to talk to him and hug him and all that good mushy stuff...and let him know he looks sexayyyyyy

so i vote for before

Before is easier and will not be rushed

also, your make up will be fresh

You will be so tired after the wedding, and hair tends to fall out of place when you sweat at the wedding, etc.

You can make a grand appearance from whereever you'll be getting ready and have that filmed and film his reaction. That could be special, too.

I agree with all the ladies...I want to enjoy my party. Plus, I know someone in my family will hit a nerve, so it's best for me to see him so he can stop me from telling them off. lol.

The CH is right after the ceremony, there raelly wil be no time. Plus I think it takes away some of the anxiety of the day.

I'm getting married at my hall too. We decided to take pictures beforehand for all the reasons mentioned here. Also we want to take our pics at Planting Fields which would be way too difficult after the ceremony.

we are doing the same - taking pictures before....for every reason you listed above - if you are comfortable with the idea i think its def worth it to do we are going to do a special reveal with the videographer and photog so the first time we see eachother is caught on film - i like that too, ive seen it before on videos and in pictures and its really beautiful

we are seeing each other before - we live together, there aren't many surprises, and i like the pics/video of the reveal beforehand... and we certainly don't want to miss out on the CH too much. There will of course be some mandatory family pics right after the ceremony but hopefully those will be out of the way quick! go with what you feel is right for you two.

we're definitely seeing each other before. it just makes the day easier, if most of the major/important pictures are out of the way. then we can enjoy some of the cocktail hour and not be bothered during the reception. Also, it will probably help to calm our nerves before the ceremony!

the ceremony and reception are all at the RH, therefore we'll be doing pictures before heading over there.

Exactly my thoughts! I didn't plan this wedding for over a year to not be able to enjoy it. I'm all about tradition most times, but my practical side wins out in this instance. You have to do whatever works for you. I'm perfectly fine with FH seeing me before the ceremony some aren't. Personal preference.

Great feedback! What about past brides...I want to hear their experiences as well.

Also I am thinking about having FH wait in the gazebo for me or in the bridal suite. Actually maybe I like the gazebo because I can actually walk down the aisle to him! Also I might have the photographer stay back a ways because I don't want her too close during our private moment!

We did our pictures before the ceremony because we did not want to miss the CH and also because we did not want to be rushed, or to be interrupted during the receptiont to take more pictures. Photog only did that once because the rain had stopped and we wanted to take advantage of outside pics.

The photographer and videographer set up a 'special moment' where we would see each other for the first time.
It was really nice and did not take away at all from DH watching me walk down the aisle and me seeing him standing there.

Exactly. We did the same thing and it was very nice. Here was the moment we saw each other.

I think the moment that you see each other BEFORE the ceremony could actually be more memorable. I would be sooo nervous walking down the aisle for the first time and would probably not remember seeing FH for the first time because my nerves would have gotten hold of me.

I think when we get that private moment to see each other, it will actually be private, intimate and just make the rest of the day more special...>JMO

When you take pictures before the ceremony and you have that special moment, you also have some moments to talk with each other. You can't really do that up at the altar, be it in church or temple, because the cermony has to start. You can move around, do whatever you want. spin around so FH can see your dress in all its glory.

I walked down a staircase with my dress really spread out behind me. DH turned around to see me as I was half way down. Tears in his eyes,
DH was speechless, just kept saying wow.
