I am getting married on site and trying to decide if I should see FH before the ceremony so we can do our pictures.
OK some background information: Originally we did not want to do this but the more I think about it the more I think it will be a good idea because:
1 - We live together and see eachother everyday 2 - The first time he sees me in my gown will be private and special 3 - It will help take the edge off my nervousness if I have him by my side all morning 4 - We will be able to attend most of the cocktail hour. 5 - If we do the pictures AFTER the ceremony...it will be rushed, I will get cranky/snappy...it could ruin my mood! 6 - Also my catering hall has a lot of places to take pictures....gardens, golf course, beaches and I want to take advantage of all of these!
Anyway....just let me know what you are doing!!! Thanks!

Im definately doing pictures before. I love the fact that the first time FH sees me it will be more private. Plus I really want to be at my cocktail hour. I dont want to feel rushed and I dont want to feel like im missing one moment of my wedding!

When you take pictures before the ceremony and you have that special moment, you also have some moments to talk with each other. You can't really do that up at the altar, be it in church or temple, because the cermony has to start. You can move around, do whatever you want. spin around so FH can see your dress in all its glory.
I walked down a staircase with my dress really spread out behind me. DH turned around to see me as I was half way down. Tears in his eyes, DH was speechless, just kept saying wow.
I cant wait for this moment!!!!!!!!!!
I am taking pics before just like everyone said, to get them out of the way and enjoy the CH>

I am having a Jewish ceremony, so we have to see eachother beforehand anyways to sign the Kettubah. I think it is much better to take pictures before the ceremony so that you are not rushed...I think it makes it more special to be able to spend that day together, instead of being apart all day.

We both wanted to wait to take pictures after the ceremony because it was important to both of us that we see eachother for the 1st time as my father walks me down the aisle!! For us, there was something soooo magical about that moment! As I walked down, I saw NO ONE but my Brian waiting at the end for me!! I wouldn't have traded that moment for the world!! Were our pictures rushed - yes BUT we were still able to get AMAZING photos!!
Its really personal choice and no one will be able to tell u what to do. I had many people, including my photog who wanted us to see eachother before hand because it's be easier BUT we held our ground!

we did pics before...had a private 'reveal' moment that got caught on photo/video and got to take a ton of pics beforehand...didn't miss a moment of our wedding...and we too lived together for years..i don't regret it at all...i have so many great pics thanks to the way we did it! Good luck!

Seeing each other before was the BEST decision we made for our wedding. We also lived together for a while before the wedding. We were getting married at the RH at night and did not want to miss out on our cocktail hour, daylight pictures, get dragged out of our reception for pictures, or have to rush. I have been to so many weddings where the bride and groom missed most of the wedding because of pictures.
We wanted to take pictures at our hall's grounds, but we set up our first meeting at a local park by our house. The limo first picked me up and brought me there. DH was brought there by my step dad. The photographer had him wait on this little bridge with his back turned as I got out of the limo and came up behind him. I will never forget that moment when he turned around and saw me. He had this big smile on and kept saying wow. We got to hug and kiss each other as our family and BP looked on. After we took the limo together to the hall.
It was such a relaxing, fun day. There was no rushing. We got to take a ton of pictures at our hall and then relaxed in the bridal suite before going over the ceremony one last time. The ceremony was one big blur to me because I was nervous so that is another reason why I am so happy we saw each other before. After the ceremony we went up to the bridal suite, alone, and got to sample everything from the cocktail hour and had a drink. We then got to go chat with a decent amount of our guests at the cocktail hour and then took a few night pictures on the ground with just the two of us. I didn't miss any of my reception either.
Here is me coming up behind him. I had to hold up my dress after it got caught on the wood and almost ripped. I was too excited to even notice.

We are taking them B4 for all of the reasons that u mentioned. I want to enjoy all of the food at the CH and hang out w/ my friends----they mostly live out of state and I never get to see them.

I kept saying that I wasnt taking pictures before, no way!! But reading all of you has made me reconsider. Maybe we will do pictures beforehand Or maybe not. I'll probably decide day of!

Definitely taking pictures before to maximize time with guests at the wedding. It's going to be hard though because I'm so not a morning person.

i have struggled SO much with this, especially since my ceremony starts so early (11:30a). I really wanted to stay traditional with this one and be seen for the first time walking down the aisle, but it's important to FH to make the CH. i think we'll find a way to do it before and make the moment he sees me a very special one somehow.

We are having our pics done before hand as well. The way I look at it is this- we want to be able to enjoy the CH and visit with as many people as possible so we don't have to during the reception. Plus we are gonna want to toss a couple down and pics would just get in the way! (honestly, I hope I will actually be able to stomach a glass of wine- lol)

I 100% agree with you. I am taking my pictures before hand because it is important to me to be stress free on that day and I do not want to be running around missing the cocktail hour trying to get a few good shots in. Good luck!!!

We both REALLY want to do after but we'll do before for the reasons listed, plus, as out photog said - it will be getting dark so we will be able to get better pics
