I orginally was going to have my DJ do my ceremony music, but I hired a pianist. I really like the idea of live music at a wedding ceremony.

Re: Poll- Ceremony music Live or DJ
Hmmmm, He charged $125 for ceremony and $75 for cocktail hour. $200 total for 2 hours

Re: Poll- Ceremony music Live or DJ
We're having a band for the reception...a violinist, pianist & another string for the ceremony...a jazz trio for the cocktail hour. So I'm obviously biased - like the idea of live music!

our church requires that we use their organist - which is fine with me as he is really talented!

Either one is fine but if you're considering live music anywhere-ceremony, cocktail or reception I think ceremony is the best choice.

We also are using Jim Lowe for Ceremony & cocktail hour for $200
I did not meet with him but spoke to him & listened to him over the phone for about 45 minutes. He is very nice!

We are using our DJ since he gave us a good deal (ceremony is free since we booked for cocktail hour as well) and we are trying to save money for other things.

Re: Poll- Ceremony music Live or DJ
Live music, my church band will play Mostly pianist for the procesional, but on the recessional the whole band will play something.
we used live...string trio...$250 each...for 2 hours (ceremony and cocktail)
we used Encore - they advertise on this site...
it turns out one of the muscians was a teachers from my moms old school!! and my MIL and her BIL were professional muscians (played with Sinatra...and the whole deal)...they sat down next to them at cocktails...and LOVED it...they said they were great!!

Re: Poll- Ceremony music Live or DJ
I would definitely say live. I had a violinist and a cellist play at the ceremony and cocktail hour. It was so beautiful, it really added something special. I used Encore music and for two and a half hours it was $600. Good luck!!!
