Besides my wedding cake, we have another dessert= Vanilla gelato sandwhiched between a nougatine waker & dipped in chocolate- is the chocolate fountain necessary?

I find chocolate fountains to be very messy. I love them - dont get me wrong - but I think they are too messy for a wedding when everyone is all dressed up. Maybe I am just too much of a klutz though! Everytime I have eaten from one I got it ALL over me!
I agree completely.
I think they're unnecessary, especially in this situation.

Re: POLL: Chocolate Fountain, or no?
I love chocolate so I am having one included in my viennesse hour.
They are nice but I have to say they are very messy!!!! My Mom wanted to pay for one for my reception but then we were at a party where there was one and what a MESS it made!!!!! We were affraid that with everyone dressed up it would be a mistake!!! Could you imagine the flower girl in her white dress getting chocolate all over the front???? We decided against it!!!

Re: POLL: Chocolate Fountain, or no?
I became disillusioned with the chocolate fountain when i bought one for 30 bucks at bed bath and beyond. I am the biggest chocolate lover on the planet, but it is messy and I don't need a fountain. Some people like it, but in my opinion, its not worth it.

I am choosing not to have one because I don't trust certain members of my family. I can see people sticking their fingers in it. The thought of it makes my stomach turn...

i had it..i loved it, and so did my guests...i dont think its a necessity, as i had alot of other desserts as well, and it seems you do...but, it is a very nice touch, and people generally LOVE it, even after theyve seen it already...everyones saying its messy, but cmon girls youre just stickin alil piece of it in not your whole hand!! lol it wasnt messy at all, in fact i made my husband check it cause my mother was a nervous wreck about it lol

Re: POLL: Chocolate Fountain, or no?
i was thinking about it...until i went to a wedding that had it... first of all it is very messy and by the time dessert everybody is so full
the best piece of advice i got when i started looking at RH... the most important part of the reception is the entertainment and the cocktail hour.. if you do your cocktail right you don't need any additonals. That came from the director of sales from a reputable RH..
Good Luck

I agree. I think they are overrated.

We didn't get it. It was over $500 just to have then we had to pay $2 pp. I couldn't justify spending almost $1000 on chocolate and I figured it would have taken away from all the dancing at the end of the night.

Re: POLL: Chocolate Fountain, or no?
1k for a chocolate fountain
good god, that is WAY overpriced..... that's more than our wedding cake, and that was one of our 'splurges'.
yeah, the mess potential is way up there, and the interest level may not be so high.
OK, and there's one more thing... it's not pure chocolate... they add stuff so it flows well without getting gloppy.... sorry, it's the foodie in me I can't stand food additives.... especially in something so
