for a July, Sunday evening wedding: black brides- maid dresses. I like the idea of black because it is simple, elegant, and flattering for mostly everyone, but some have voiced that black is inappropriate for the summer. Others have said it is elegant and appropriate for an evening wedding at anytime of the year. Opinions please . . .

I was in a wedding where we wore black dresses and I loves it! I have actually been able to wear a BM dress more than once!

Elegantly appropriate. A good friend was married last summer, August. The BM's wore these sexy black dresses with spaghetti strap fronts and a low scoop in the back. They looked incredible!!

my girls wore black and they loved it, and I thought it looked great and very elegant. I agree, as long as it's a 'summery' dress, black is fine for july!

So funny! I am going through the same debate... black bridesmaids dresses.... I am going to do it but I think I am going to soften the tone with wraps- I am in September- but possibly a Garnet Wrap or Berry Wrap. I know people say it is not a bridesmaids color but it just looked so classy and elegant! I thought it was so pretty!

I love the look of a black and white wedding. Since it's an evening affair, I think you'll be fine. I do not think that black is appropriate for an afternoon affair.

I definitely think it's appropriate... just not in a heavy fabric, like velvet, etc.

That is what I am doing. I want a black and white wedding. The bm dresses are black. Mine is also a Sunday evening in July!!!!
