This is how mine went (skipping the months of arguing over 2004 or 2005): I've always wanted May, June, or September like many other brides, but those are of course, the most expensive months. So we chose the last possible day in April in hopes of May weather, plus it's the soonest warm month in 2005!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We wanted a short engagement but not a winter month and we wanted a Saturday night. So we got engaged at the end of July we went to look at halls in August and wanted April but the hall we liked didnt have didnt have any dates available so we picked one day in June but hte church wasnt available so we chose June 26! Its 2 months later than we wanted but oh well, we have the rest of our lives whats an extra 2 months! (it gives us extra house hunting time )

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I have always wanted September, however I am also a teacher and people always ask me if I am crazy that I picked September. We should have thought about it more, for the honeymoon issue but I have faith everything will work out!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
This was a toughy. Being a teacher, summer would be practical, however, that is FH's busiest time at work. So that was out. Plus, he told me right off the bat that he was not wearing a tux in hot weather. So we were down to October, November, December, January and February. October, November and December were out because I am finishing my Masters degree and all the holidays would make it too crazy. So we came up with February. February was when we started dating so it seemed kind of perfect. Plus, I have a week vacation in February, so I would not have to take too much more time off and things were a bit cheaper. I am just praying and keeping my fingers crossed that there is no Blizzard.

I wanted it to be relaxed, so we picked labor day weekend on a Sunday(I always liked the idea of a Sunday wedding, for no real reason). So people have the day before to relax and the day after. Also September has great weather

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
Before we got engaged FI and I discussed that we would wait until I finished school before we actually got married.. I agreed. Then when he proposed, there was no way I was waiting 3 years, So we set it for June of 2005.. Then.. that was too far away for ME! My grandma passed away this year and her birthday is March 15, so we picked march 12, because it was near my nanny's birthday, it's a saturday, and it's closer then june..
I was a teacher...so I knew I wanted time before to get things ready and I wanted a long HM...
we wnet looking at halls and at our first choise they had July 14th...this is Bastille Day (honors French Revolution) in France and Dh's father passed away and he was from France...so we thought it fit perfectly!

I'm a teacher, by then he'll be a teacher, so we knew summer and 2005, then I looked at the calendar, saw that July 3 was a Sunday, which meant 'Saturday' night wedding on a Sunday to me and I said, 'Hey babe, we're getting married July 3, 2005!' and he said, great! And there ya go.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We had to pick either July or August because of my FI's kids... they usually go down to his mom's house for the summer so we decided to pick early July. So right after the wedding they can go straight home with her while we go on our honeymoon This way we don't have to worry about who is taking them to school, picking them up, homework.. etc etc..

OY VEY.
Okay, Adam and I wanted either May or September, originally. BUT, May happens to fall in the middle of this 40-day blackout period of mourning for Jews, so that's out of the question if we want our orthodox relatives and friends to come.
September? High Holy Days. It's impossible - all the Rabbis are just too booked up.
So I called my Rabbi, and I told him our issue. He told me to give him a few possible dates and he'd pick one.
Hence, August 29th, 2004.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I always dreamed of a Christmas Eve wedding but, because of my FI job he cannot take off from 10/15 until 4/15, and his daughters birthday is 12/26. So then our next choice was April but we wanted to buy a house first so 4/04 was out of the question and he didnt want to wait until 4/05 because we want to start a family right away. So we picked September but we know about 7 people married that month, so my grandmothers lucky # is 13 so we are getting married on 10/3 the hall was available so we took it.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We picked November because Fall is my favorite season. We were going to get married next October but his best friend is getting married in late September and another in October so, we are getting married November 5. Close enough to October I knew I could never wait until October 2005. I always knew I would never want a summer wedding because the heat makes me very very mean

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
well, I don't know. I don't even know how we even decided to get married in the first place
BUT- I think what happened is I looked at halls with the idea to get married in July/February b/c his brother was getting married that April AND I didn't like warm weather AND I didn't want a long engagement.
So basically I went to the Carlyle and said what do you have... keep in mind we were only engaged for 7 months so we couldn't be very picky with the exact date.
It worked out well because your jaw would drop to know how much we paid PP for the Carlyle... the closer you book to the date, the less expensive it is!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We were actually planning to get married in February or March. March is our 'dating' anniversary and Feb we were thinking of doing a Valentine wedding. We ended up booking May because there was no difference in price at Villa's. I'd rather have nice weather and have our ceremony outside than risk having it snow. Since it was the same price we figured why not pick May. I didn't want later in the year because I was afraid it would be too hot. We are hoping that the weather will hold out for us.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We wanted 1 1/2 years of engagement to enjoy the excitement of being engaged and time to plan our wedding. One and a half years from the date that he proposed from February 2001 was August 2002. I wanted a Spring or Summer wedding because of the weather in New York City. I hate cold and I hate winter here NYC. We have a lot of extended family travelling abroad and OOT to NYC thus the airports close when there is a lot of snow or cause delays.
Initially we chose Saturday, August 17, 2002 because it would be in the middle of the month where it is mid-summer but almost the end of summer. However, we were too late to reserve our reception site because no one was involved in researching reception sites other than myself but only complaining and talking about ideas--no action. Thus, we had to change our date and push it back exactly a week later to Saturday, August 24, 2002. It is then really a mid-summer NYC wedding where school would not be in session here in the East coast but would start already in the Mid-West. Some families were not able to attend our big day because school starts that week in the Mid-West. That is our story of how we choose our beloved wedding date.
