This is how mine went (skipping the months of arguing over 2004 or 2005): I've always wanted May, June, or September like many other brides, but those are of course, the most expensive months. So we chose the last possible day in April in hopes of May weather, plus it's the soonest warm month in 2005!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We got engaged in January on our vacation, and when we started talking dates, although we both wanted summer, he works at a Country Club and it's impossible to get a day off. So, the club closes January 3rd and we are getting married January 24th. Gives us time for all the last minute stuff.

We picked October because the weather is still nice and its a bit cheaper. We came to the 17th because that was the first date in October on a Sunday we could do at Land's End that was available.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
Our birthday's are both in the fall, and there are a lot of things that we Celebrate in the Winter (Christmas, New Years, Valentines...). We wanted to spread things out, and there was nothing big that we celebrate in the spring/summer. We both liked June because the weather will be nice, but not too hot. Since less than a year would be too difficult to plan a wedding from the west coast, we went with June 2005. FH's favorite number is 18, and thats a Saturday in June of 2005. Thats how we came up with the date. Now he jokes that we have to stick with it because he won't be able to remember any date other than the 18th.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We were very unhappy with the idea of a three year engagement. We knew we were getting married on a sunday evening (most affordable) in July (I am a teacher), and it worked out that the a sunday in July three years from when we got engaged would be 5 years to the day we met (July 10, 2005). It seemed like it was meant to be!

I TOO AM A TEACHER SO MY MONTHS TO WERE LIMITED TO JULY AND AUG. I WANTED A SATURDAY NIGHT. I ORIGINALLY BOOKED THE CHURCH FOR 2 WEEKS EARLIER, BUT THEN MY HALL WASN'T AVAILABLE, SO I CHANGED THE CHURCH TO 2 WEEKS LATER SO I COULD HAVE MY HALL.

I wanted winter and his lucky number is 2 so February worked out and of course we had to have Valentines Day since it was available (actually, FI suggested Valentines Day). How could I not?

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I wanted fall or winter but I am getting my Master's in Math so it was whenever I wasn't going to be in class and the third summer session is the only time I could do that.
I am still sad about it a bit but I figure this was meant to be.

We loved the idea of a fall-thanksgiving wedding so what better than the night before thanksgiving. Our guests can also celebrate a holiday with us the next day.

We both wanted to have it fairly warm, but not hot, and have lots of flowers (ok, it was me with the wanting of the flowers, but he gave in)... So we decided on May.

Well, we both really wanted a fall wedding. But FI is a teacher and just started a new job so the summer would have to do.
We knew we wanted to def. get married at our hall then it was just a question of what dates were available.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I always wanted a September or May wedding. We originally were looking at September - but then his Aunt got involved and informed us of all the Jewish holidays (I am catholic and he is Jewish), so we were left with only one weekend in September. So then he decided August 6 (our 7 year anniversary)-but I did not want that because it would be to hot. The only other month I wanted was May, but the Watermill was already booked - but they had two dates open in June, the 6th and the 27th. His mother informed us that his grandparents (both deceased) were married on June 6 - so it just seemed right to get married June 6. I could not be happier with our decision.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
we got engaged this summer and there wasn't enough time left in 2003 to do anything. So for 2004 April was the best month due to weather, birthdays, family events, etc. April is also the month we started dating

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
Right after the ring was on my finger and we were walking back to the car FI said' I have one request now , we CAN NOT GET MARRIED WHEN IT IS HOT OUT' So that pretty much narrowed it down to march, april, feb, jan, dec, sept, oct or nov. I have always dreamnt of getting married in the fall so I scratched out the other months and sept and oct were more $$$ money then NOV, so we went with Nov.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We knew we didn't want winter... too many Floridians who don't like the cold. We didn't want mid-summer... too hot and humid and uncomfortable. I didn't want fall... hurricane season could ruin a honeymoon. That left spring. The first hall we looked at said ff you have it after Easter, that's when prices go up. So we decided on Palm Sunday. So we could have cheaper prices and still be in April. We didn't book that first hall, but we kept with that line of thinking. Plus, I loved the date... 4/4/04!! COOL!!!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I've been told that I look like a 'Fall' bride, whatever that means. At any rate, FH and I have LOTS of family and friends coming out of town and wanted to get married on a 'three day weekend' which is why we chose labor day. I prefer September and relate it to a new beginning of a school year and a new beginning together. Go figure!
