This is how mine went (skipping the months of arguing over 2004 or 2005): I've always wanted May, June, or September like many other brides, but those are of course, the most expensive months. So we chose the last possible day in April in hopes of May weather, plus it's the soonest warm month in 2005!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We're winter/Christmas babies and for this, we wanted the complete opposite - summer. I had originally wanted July...FH wanted September...so we looked at Labor Day weekend - originally wanting the Sunday of but that date was booked at the hall we really wanted...so we went with the Friday of. Choosing a Saturday was not feasible since we wanted a small-intimate wedding, thus falling (way) under the hall's minimum.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
at first we were going to get married in feb. 2004. after i started thinking about it, i changed my mind about a winter wedding because of the snow and a lot of our out of town guest probably wouldn't be able to come. so i know we couldn't do it in the summer because fh is so busy with work. so it was supposed to be oct 24 2004. Then i hurt my back at work and i haven't been able to work in over a year, so we had to push it back another year to save enough money.

Both of us hate the heat, so we knew we wanted cold weather but bottom line.. the price guided us into March.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I originally wanted March or April but due to the fact that his parents live in Italy as well as many of my relatives, and his mom is also a teacher in Italy, we decided to go with August because many of our relatives are off in August and can take the trip to New York - we want them to be part of the big day and August suits everyone the best.
Congrats to all and Good Luck!!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I love the fall weather and fall colors and i wanted a sat wedding. So we thought sept or oct. When we looked at the dates in sept. for the year 2004, it was too complicated for us 1. is a holiday weekend (something that my FI didn't like...despite better prices) 2nd weekend was the 11th another date i didn't like, 18th was GREAT but booked at the halls i liked, 25th moms birthday. SO oct 2nd it was.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
After both of us being in summer wedding parties in churches that had no air conditioning and feeling as though we'd pass out (not to mention a nice wet spot on the back of my bridesmaid dress), we decided on a winter wedding. It's a bonus that everything is cheaper and we can do a little more of the things we want for the off season. Just a little bit of snow please!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I always wanted a spring/early summer wedding. So when we went looking we started with the first Saturday night in May. That was booked!! So we continued Saturdays, skipping over holidays, until we found June 19th available.
And that is when I realized how far in advance people plan things since that was over a year and a half ago and I started getting my butt in gear!!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We picked our date because FH did not want me to be planning over the next summer (2004). We are both a little older ( I am 33 and FH is 38) and we wanted to start trying for a family immediately. We got engaged this past August and will be getting married next May 2004. Another reason was work. We both work at places that we need to be there at certain times and May seemed like the most convenient out of all the months.

hrmm
It's sorta *ahem* personal.
It started with 2004.. alright then..I believe we should at least wait one year since our engagement so that took out everything from Jan through July. Well my Birthday is in August so I didnt want him to have to buy me two gifts in August (anniversary & birthday) so Now im left wtih Sept through Dec. Decmeber is Xmas so that's out. Leaving Sept through Nov. I went with the in between. October.
That gives him a month break between my birthday, our anniversary and Xmas.
The date.. well that was a little trickier. I am on the pill. Been on the same pill since College it's VERY timely. Clockwork. So.... I calculated when I'd have my period and picked the weekend after that, so I won't have to worry about it during my honeymoon. Sad, right?

We like the weather in September. We wanted to have the wedding mid to end September. We picked the exact date based on what the halls had available.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
we originally wanted Mar-Apr-May ish (were looking in early June). But it really just came down to the hall. Once we looked at the Vineyard Caterers, we knew that was the place we wanted, and they gave us a list of what was available. There was 1 in April, and some in June. We decided on the June date because it was a Saturday. Plus it would give us more time to plan. And FI thought the date was cool (06/05/04). I know very scientific

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
I always imagined myself as a May or September Bride. We wanted a month that wouldn't conflict with immediate family birthdays or anniversaries. With FH having 6 siblings, that was a toughie. We also wanted our engagment to be about a year, no longer than a year and a half.
We wanted a Sunday evening wedding because it is a bit cheaper and immediately went for Columbus Day weekend, but that date was booked already at most places. When we met with the Meadow Club, the gentleman suggested Halloween and I said 'ABSOLUTELY NOT!'. We continued to look and the idea of an October, autumn wedding grew on me. What we found as we continued to look is that most places were willing to lower the price for Halloween. We fell in love with the Miller Place Inn, they not only lowered the price but threw in a bunch of extras and then I was sold....Halloween it is! We haven't had a problem with any of our vendors so far being booked, it's been great.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We wanted an outdoor ceremony and I do not do well with the heat, so the summer months were out. I was thinking May, and had visions of big beautiful flowers, but my hall said that they only just plant little baby flowers in May, and that the flowers are huge by August and September. So - September it was. Plus, it gave us more time to save $$, and FH loves the fall. We wanted a Thursday to save $$, and 23 is FH's favorite number (his b-day is 5/23, which is also when he proposed) - so we chose Sept. 23rd.

We wanted the fall of 2003, and when some place had an opening we were willing to take it, since we got engaged in Jan 2003.

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We got engaged in June and we wanted a relatively short engagement. We settled on a Friday in March, but my birthday is March 10th, so we didn't want the 5th or the 12th since they were too close. We chose the 19th because it's more than a week later and because he's Italian and I'm Irish--it's two days after St. Patrick's Day and the 19th is St. Joseph's day, the Italian feast day!

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
My FH is a teacher so we were limited to July and Aug but he wanted time to prepare for school when we got back from our honeymoon so we had july and 1st 2 weeks in aug. then we had July 24 (in hopes of my uncle being home from sea) but then we found out that JA was going Chapter 11 and switched halls and date to July 17 which was his first pick of dates because he loves the number 17

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
well being a teacher i am limited to february, april, december or the summer. DH said no way to a summer wedding (hates the heat). I wanted to choose a time when we could actually go away for a honeymoon right after the wedding. February was too cold, and December would have only given us a year to save up for Flowerfield. So, April allowed me to save for 4 extra months, and the april break from work was longer...Hence a GOOD FRIDAY WEDDING! LOL

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
Were both teachers and have the summers off. But the summers are too $$ and we are paying for the wedding ourselves. He proposed to me on 2/12/03 so we decided to make it about a year from then onthe 7th. We both have off the following week for a honeymoon, its less $$, nothing is usually going on in feb so it will be something people will be looking forward to besides us. Like Boop 2704 said, praying there isnt a blizzard...

We wanted either May or June of 2005 and we knew we wanted Villa Lombardi's so we went to see what they had available. They had only two Saturdays left, one in May and June 11. We started dating on June 11, so we picked that day

Re: Poll: How did you and FH set your date?
We got engaged on 7/1/03 and wanted no more than a one year engagement (we're both older and want to start a family right away) and I definitely wanted a Saturday wedding. The rest of 2003 didn't leave enough time. We hate the cold, so Jan-Feb-March was out. That left April through June (July is too hot). We both have allergies, so that knocked out May and early June. We first chose JA's, and took the date they had available for the room we wanted. Then we had to switch due to their situation. The new place I wanted was available for 4/24 - then he got a new job with six months of intense training and that ends in mid-April. So, the 4/24 was no good. Then it came down to two places - the one we didn't choose didn't have a date available that fit our schedule (with the church and vendors we already booked). The other choice we both love and it was available for our original date and that's that!
