From my vent on the Newlywed board...NO! My parents are not crazy about my inlaws so the less they see them the better...

My parents live here and my inlaws live in England so there isn't too much socializing. However, when they are the same side of the Atlantic, they seem to get along very well. When Dan's folks came over last year for the firs time, they had a great time with my parents. At the wedding it was even better, you couldn't tell which side was which.
That was the wedding, though. If they lived closer who knows how well they would get along.

My mother doesn't socialize with them. Its funny when my mother and FMIL are together. My FMIL is so afraid my mother will confront her for all of the nasty things she has said to me and about me and my mother!

They did for awhile, my mother would invite his mother to all functions my family would have (birthdays, bbqs, etc.). Once the real hositility kicked in, my mother cut her off and she had the audacity to question my mother didn't want her around anymore!

Our families get along really well and socialize on a regular basis...even if my husband & I are not around.

Actually our moms met for the first time on 9/11 when i was down there and finally made it back to queens. Then on fathers day '02 we had his whole family over and it was sooo nice. Unfortunatley his Mom passsed away 6 weeks later( unexpectedly ) and since then they have comeover for our engagement party and they are coming here for easter. His mom and my mom were really getting to know each other and I think a freidnship would ve formed!
